I just found out some shrubs we planted in our backyard are poisonous to dogs. There was no warning on the label whatsoever. I'm glad I checked, unfortunately they are already in the ground, but I'm pulling them out today. I don't want to risk my dog's life because of a plant.
poisonous plants for animall
Your dogs are prone to chew on shrubs? My pup just chews on sticks and eats grass. Oh yeah and plays with all my river rocks I had surrounding my garden beds.
Many plant labels won't even warn you about toxicity to humans let alone pets. Unless your dog is a big garden muncher you probably don't need to worry too much though. Most poisonous plants taste bad enough that a dog wouldn't eat enough to cause problems if they even took a nibble at all. I'll also venture a guess that there are probably other plants in your yard already that are also poisonous to the dog, so if you want a yard that's 100% safe I'd look up the other things you already have and see if they're OK or not, you may have to rip out a few more things too.
