I have a question for the reblooming iris experts ... do we dead head the blooms to encourage more blooms?
Daisy, I can relate to the lattice problem! Last week, I watched dh heading out of the driveway, on his way to the dump, with a bunch of junk from cleaning out the barn. And, guess what was on top of the pile? You guessed it - two pieces of lattice! Boy, did he get an earful when he got home!
Sue! That was very naughty of him!
That's gorgeous, Sherrie!
I gotta tell ya - I am so happy with my camera! For the past few years I only had a really cheap no-name camera that took awful pics. After Christmas, I saved enough to get a decent one - Canon PowerShot A470 (I say saved because dh is still laid off), and it's so good to be able to take sharp photos, and close-ups!
I agree, Sue. That camera is well worth what you paid for it. Beautiful photos!!
Trying to catch up! Victor, that is sensitive fern---get rid of it---it's taken over 2 of my gardens & I'm digging it out constantly--& I am sensitive to it---an area on my leg looked like I had been in a fire when it touched me! Jen, I think your noid is shooting star, but can't remember botanical name. Shelley---what a project---it will be great when completed. Daisy, your roses are wonderful----love the dark purple one. I saw the Trade Secrets advertised but I didn't go! My son lives in Goshen which isn't too far from Salisbury. Dyane---very nice shots---& Jo Ann, the garden art is very nice---love the 'earring'! .
Hey, I have one of those noid heuchera's, too!
Karen, two years ago dh brought home a variety of Trad's from some property he has in the next town over. They're gorgeous, but this year I'm finding the seedlings everywhere - not funny! I already had two trads of my own, and have always deadheaded them, so no problem there, but I'm not about to deadhead all of his!
Great pics, everyone!
Yes, Daisy, it's no fun, and my hands were so stiff the next day that I couldn't do anymore weeding, especially the left hand, though I'm right-handed. I guess I weed more with my left hand. Go figure! I was also so sore in my legs and hips that night, even after having taken 2 Aleve I was in pain. I could not get comfortable enough to sleep and stayed up late on the computer, then reading for a couple of hours. Didn't get to bed till 2 a.m. It's catching up to me now.
Sue, the trads I have aren't the ones that spread by seed but by stolens, and they go everywhere. Worse than the ones that spread by seed.
Victor, I have the Eup. Chocolate, but so far I haven't gotten any seedlings from it. I've had it a few years now, and I've really liked it.
Dyane, that's funny, I have been digging LOV and Vinca, too. I like it, also, but in some areas I want other things, so it has to go. Victor, your lucky you haven't had a problem with your LOV.
Karen
I have a love/hate relationship with my LOV, too!
Unless a stalk has a seedpod which you wish to keep--all stalks should be cut at the rhizome level when it has finished blooming. This prevents rot from going along the stalk to the rhizome. It doesn't have nything to do with rebloom. Rebloom would happen on the increases on the plant.
Robin....that's a pretty combination.
Sue...very nice pictures. Isn't it nice to finally capture on "film" what you know that you see in a scenario? I used mostly fun saver cameras for years before I finally decided to save up and get a decent camera. the difference is amazing!
Sherrie...that white poppy is so pretty. I love all of the pictures here of it.
Karen..I sure hope that you get back to normal soon. I hate those days when I feel like that afterwards. But, it is great to have it all done.
LOV is Lily of the Valley
Shelly, I can see why that first Clematis is a favorite. It is stunning.
Robin, I love your Verbascum/Heuchera combo.
Great Poppies sue & schickenlady.
Things are still humming for everyone. Wow asiatic lilies this early!!! Redchic what is that to die for hot pink diathus you posted this morn??? I am always looking for new ones. Thanks.
Mr. Lincoln? I killed Mr Lincoln (the Rose not Abe)
The salvia looks deadly with that rose jumper2. I had hoped to have salvia 'May Night' bloom with a Mrs RO Backhouse martagon lily but methinks I killed Mrs RO as no sign this year. OMG how many plant killings are you allowed before you are a serial killer? :O
LOL I should be locked up then. I can't count the number of casualties.
