Help! No Zucchini Flowers!

My zuke plants are growing fabulously! HOWEVER the ants are eating all of my flowers! I tried the cayenne pepper thing and the cinnamon thing. It works for about 2 days. If I dont find anything else to get rid of these guys, I am going to spend a LOT of money in cayenne pepper, so I might as well just buy my zucchinis from the store... Help me!!! Thanks!!!

Hi there,

I am a beginner garden so should not be giving advise, but no one has given you an answer so here it goes. I read somewhere that ants love aphids. Zucks are prone to aphid infestations, so I am thinking that maybe you should spray for aphids, getting rid of them will get rid of your ants. There is stuff you can buy to get rid of aphids, also soap and water seems to help. Make sure when you spray the sun as gone down, I have had bad experiences spraying plants when the sun was up and my plants getting fried....live and learn.

I spray for aphids with a very mild solution of water and Dawn
dish washing liquid, then wash the plants with plain water.
Don't know why it has to be Dawn, but it works for me.

I use Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap and add a dash of ammonia. The peppermint spray really smells nice!
