The Long View 2009 - 2
herrrrrumpth !
Kassia, I'm so glad you weren't seriously hurt. Take it easy, girlfriend.
So glad you're ok Kassia. I hate that shaky feeling you get after an accident.
Kassia, now I assume you were day dreaming about roses when you had the wreak, but I am thankful that you survived and aren't now yourself under a blanket of them. Scary. I hate the Mass Pike.
Here is one of our 'Marmalade skies' that I got from a Park sale in 2006 for 2 for 4.99 (they had two packed together) and this is where I got Flutterbye for 5.99. That was a great sale. I got many others at the same time that are all doing fine except one called 'Tamora' which I think is missing??? Patti
Patti, good to see someone had success with something from Park.
onewish - your Montauk daisy must not have come back for some other reason -- I'm in zone 5 and mine is healthy and growing after the winter ...
Also meant to say I'm in a microclimate up on a ridge and stuff blooms a couple of weeks later than stuff in the valley ... and later than my neighbor who's a little lower just down the road!
Kassia that's Silene or catchfly -- should reseed itself -- I just got some last year and it's blooming now -- I love it! I hope it reseeds all over the place.
Anyone have a problem with voles? I lost all my alliums this year to voles ...
Patti that last picture shows how wonderful yellow can look. I think it's after seeing the different colors porportioned just right, like yours, is what sells me. Now if only I can get them to look like that. ... Is that beautiful purple bush a weeping tree form butterfly bush? I really want one if it is, I am just worried they would die back to the roots every year.
I might have to try another Crock... thanks
Yes that is my Buddleja alternifolia that I have trained into a tree. It will bloom again in the late summer. Patti
Kassia, this is the first I'm hearing of your crash. Thank God you're with us today. I hope you have a smooth and easy recovery with no after effects. Do whatever your physical therapist tells you to! We want you to have no pain when you garden. Hugs and love, Harper
Beautiful gardens everyone!
Kassia, thank God you're OK! I had a bad accident with a guard rail once and I almost wiped out on the Pike once too - there was no break down lane sand someone was pushing their car and someone else cut in front of me ... the important thing is YOU'RE OK!!!!
My nightmare was on RT 2 in an ice storm. I think the moral of this is that we should all just stay in our gardens! Patti
Ayy Ayy
He took off? AAHHH!!!
What a dope!
I would of made him drive around get some cash from the ATM to pay for the damages.
sometimes those tellers act like prison guards! (sorry could not resist - i had a bad teller experience in my youth)
hope his insurance covers the damage - it is still a hassle that you do not need to deal with.
Sherrie, did you get his plate number?
The bank will have it on their surveillance tape no doubt. Big brother is watching everywhere these days. Patti
Also time of transaction? Or was it beforehand?
Thanks everyone! I am doing much better. I go back to work on Monday.
It was really scary and horrible car crash on my way to work... no I did not break anything but I hurt all over... my shoulder still hurts and I could not garden this past week. The only thing I can compare is a horrible rollercoast ride gone wrong. I was passing a car and for a second I swirvel and lost control of my car and went all the way from the left lane to the right, hit the guard rails and went opposite of incoming traffic... and all the time I did not hit any other car and no other car hit me either ... how that happened to me it's a miracle... I trully believe God was watching and delivered me from death...
my car is a total loss. Don't know yet how much the insurance will give me but I need to look for another car. I decided that from now on I don't care about a car. I really loved my car and have cried a lot about it... so no more... I am thinking that maybe I should just buy a pick up truck... this way I can garden more efficiently...
thanks for all you good wishes and encouraging words.
sweet william and daisies... I love it!
so sorry Sherrie....that's terrible
He was at the teller window and took off and backed up into me. Yes I did get his license plate number, make of truck, had the exact time of day on my receipt, his name and phone number. The claim is in process. 300 bucks more and my car would of been totalled. DH is going to fix the car.
35 for used headlight,60 for a hood,78 for bumper cover,40 for paint - around 200 bucks to fix it. The insurance is giving a check for 1,204 so the profit is a 1000 bucks. Its a 96 so they wont pay for new parts. Go figure.........
Goody Boo.
I love your containers.I would like to try lilies in pots again next year.
I had a terrible experience when we moved here 2 years ago.
All bulbs rotted. I had planted them in the fall.
I'll try pixies again and plant them in the spring.
Are your tub bulbs in tubs all year round?
Looks great, Nancy!
Yes. They stay in the pot.
These were on sale @ Home Depot a couple of years ago.
I think I'm going to have to divide them soon.
The pot is getting crowded.

I planted lollipops in a tub and in 2 years it was full of weeeny bulbs and plants. Those asiatics really multiply like rabbits
I dug them out and put them in a nursery. Now I'm sorry I just didnt toss them
nancy that is a forest of containers!
gabagoo, great container growth already. Looking good. Yours too, Ge1836
My containers are still pathetic with all the cool weather and rain. Nothing much is growing yet. I planted calla and caladiums in some of them and they are just poking up now. My coleus looks miserable so far. I haven't even taken picture of them lately. I do have one calla in bloom from a pot that I wintered over in the GH. Patti
nice Gabby!!!... your variegated mint that you gave me is doing great!!!
Joann, why are you sorry you didn't just trash your lollipops? (Trying to understand lilies and not doing too well.)
Here about 5 lilies left after 2 yrs of beetle attacks. Still handpicking beetles & their disgusting larva, when the 5 go, no more lillies in spite of their beauty.
Oh, that's terrible, Lucy. Sorry.
I shot this with this thread in mind. My main perennial bed.

Edited to add;
Front to back ~ Stellas, Asiatic Lily 'Lollipop', Peony, the last Iris and top far right Mountain Laurel plus my sidekick Sarah.
The vines on the dog fence are Clematis 'Polish Spirit' almost ready to flower.
