I finally caught up on this thread, and love seeing all the photos. It is heart-warming to hear just how much your furry friends mean to all of you. And seeing Phoenix grow up is fun! And what a handsome group of furry friends Julie and Sharon have! I love the photos of Sharon giving the group treats.

I have had dogs since college, and I have always loved them. But now, after retiring and having kids grow up and leave home to start their own lives, my Koka is such a big part of my life. We're going on a road trip on Monday - driving to Park City to meet up with all my kids and grandkids for a ski vacation. If I were driving without Koka I would zoom through and just get there as quickly as possible. But when I take Koka along, we stop for walks and explore a bit. She helps me to see things in new ways.

Looks like Magic and Sahara love the snow!

Tilly - nice to see you again! And Ester and Tyler are very cute.

Daisy looks quite intelligent!

And what a cute and unusual pair Tuck and Derf make.

Have a great trip, Judi!!!

Ok I don't need much to post my sweet girls.

This is Acacia her last summer with me in 2008, he died in Feb 2009 at 13 1/2 which considering she had bloat surgery at 8 years old and lived, very bad case of it, is a statement to how much she loved me and didn't want to leave me at that time.

This is my sweet Blessing Acacia's daughter out of her second and last litter. Blessing had liver cancer and died 8 days before my Acacia, this came out of no were.

What a beautiful pair of fur-faces. So sad to lose both at the same time. We used to have a collie when I was about ten. His name was Tippy. Gold and white.

I've had collies all my life, mom had one when I was a baby and then my grandparents got hooked on them which is when I started showing, herding, obedience.

I love almost all dogs, but collies do it to me.

did ya know that sight hounds were bred into collies years ago to help lengthen their head.

I especially love the eyes of all breeds of dogs, as that tells you so much about them.

The dog friend-and-companion pictures are all heartwarming. They have such soulful eyes. My gardening buddy, Methow aka Doggly, loved the snow too (like Magic and Sahara above).

This is one of the last pictures I took of him, on a walk with my son and his grandma.

just gotta love the old ones. I'm a big softy when it comes to the old ones.

In the show ring we have a class called veterans and when they have entries in it and the dogs start to go around the ring all of those watching usually stand and clap as they go by. Such a heart warming sight.

mauryhillfarm is your sweetie an aussie?

Janet,

I had never heard that about sighthounds and collies - which of the sighthound breeds, do you know?

The sweet pictures of Blessing and Acacia just reminded me of a collie my gradeschool baby sitter had. She was named Penny. I haven't thought of her for years. They look so devoted to you.

I was at a show last summer where we applauded the novices and the veterans - shows can be such a nice place where people support one another. I wish they always were. :-)

Holly, Doggly looks like he had so much coat he could stay out in the snow forever and not even feel it!

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Janet, I'm not sure exactly what my Doggly was genetics-wise. The people who gave him to us said he was part Australian Shepherd. His vet papers only said Golden Retriever mix. His fur was much thicker than any dog I have ever met before or since. (No kidding about his coat in snow, Kathy) He had fur between his toes, between his foot pads, a mane around his head, fringe on his legs that would get 4 inches long if I didn't keep it trimmed, and an undercoat that was like sheep's wool.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Holly, that fur makes me think he had some of one of the Nordic breeds in him. We had a Norweigian Elkhound who had such a thick undercoat that he couldn't be inside for more than 5 or 10 minutes in winter. It was just too hot. He much preferred it outside.
