HELP!!!!!! My zucchini plants are growing beautifully, but the ANTS! They are eating the flowers all the way down to the fruit ovary and sometimes down to the stem! How do I get them to stop?!?!?!
Ant on my Zucchini!!!
I haven't tried this in the garden, but I have tried it around the house. Sprinkle cayenne pepper around the plant and then make sure you get the ants off the plants. Again, I haven't tried it but ants hate cayenne pepper. Good luck.
You also might try sprinkling cinnamon around as they don't like that. Another option would be diatomaceous earth (DE), but be sure to get the food grade/garden variety NOT the kind for the pool.
Most of the time when you see ants on garden plants they are after some kind of insect. Usually aphids or caterpillars. In hot dry weather they will take to the blooms for moisture.
