Just thought I'd share the sight :)... This lily bed was "mangled" by our puppy last year but thankfully some of the bulbs survived!
(This is probably the wrong place to post these but I'm new and still trying to "feel my way" :) so apologies- Just too happy that our garden has "waken" up!)

First Blooms of 2009! Sooo excited!
Very nice, The lilies tend to alter color slightly as do most plants based on sun exposure temperature and nutrients in the soil.
I'm moving my bulb bed next year. So I was just wondering what I should do to vamp up the colors of my lilies? How should I prepare the soil and such? I'm clueless when it comes to fertilizing lilies :)...
In my limited experience bulbs prefer a little extra bone meal along with the standard general purpose soil amendments. Hello, E-crane, any other suggestions? E really needs a toll free number for us newbies. ;-)
Congrats, very nice.
Sorry--I don't do bulbs so can't offer to much advice in that department :-)
*Your flowers are BEAUTIFUL!!* ;)
Thanks for the compliment AND sugegstions peeps:)
Image 2 started opening up but for some reason it still looks very green. I think it's a type of daisy... (I always forget to save those precious tags!).
And E, why no bulbs? They're purrrrty!
I don't grow bulbs because they don't bloom for long enough, and most of the time the foliage is ugly when they're not blooming. Plus some of them would need to be dug up every year and chilled if I wanted them to bloom, and I'm way too lazy for that. And many of them would get munched by the gophers before I ever got a chance to enjoy them, and I am way too lazy to plant them all in their own little wire baskets.
Dagnabbit! I was wondering why nobody's posting their first blooms here and just figured out that I didn't ask! So PLEASE! Show us your pride and joy so we may salivate with jealousy and envy :)!
I'm actually enjoying the weather--mid 70's is my ideal temperature and if it could be that way 365 days a year I'd be very happy! The rain wasn't enough to ruin any outdoor activities (at least over here by me) and anything that can help save on the water bill is always a good thing!
