Blooming In June

Conway, SC

Great article, Ardesia. I worked in OB/GYN for 25 years and now I find out I had a tree in my yard that would have helped all us poor women.
Mine will bloom all summer if I keep it deadheaded. I like them much better that the Butterfly bushes. You get the same effect but a much more dependable choice.

I was in Dallas a few weeks ago and at the arboretum they had a allee made of vitex trees. They were some of the biggest I'd seen. This is not a great pic, but you get the idea.

I'm wondering how so many people know what pot plants look like?

Lovely flowers y'all!

I'll try to get in a few more pics before July. The long-term forecast here is looking hot and dry... I sure hope July ends up rainier than expected. I'm tired of the arid summers.

Here's Crinum 'Parfait' ... note the dark pink stripe in the middle of the petals. It has a moderate floral/spicy fragrance.

The "butterfly garden" (lantana, echinacea, rudbeckia, Queen Anne's Lace, and other assorted weeds/volunteers) is starting to take off ...

The tiger lilies (Lilium lancifolium) are starting to bloom. I have way too many of them and I've been pulling them up and composting them. So if anyone who's going to be at the Raleigh RU on July 18th wants some, just let me know.

It's very rare indeed for something to literally blow me away .. but this one did on my morning walkabout. This is a Japanese Morning Glory, Fujishibori. This particular flower is 4.5 inches across. I've never really like JMG's all that much be cause they are huge and floppy making me want to get out the ironing board and starch. But this one blew me away. What a nice way to end the month.
