Oklahoma City, OK

I have a rather large porch in front of my house. I am going to paint it the same color of red and i also am going to put a table and 2 chairs in the corner. But as far as everything else, im completely lost. What do you guys suggest i do with the rest??? I want it to look beautiful and be a place where people can come and sit..

thanks,

Lots and lots of containers.

Concord, CA(Zone 9a)

Yep, lots and lots of containers, cute seating like a park bench or chairs with a table. I would put a drip system in to make watering easy.
Check out the container forum. Lots of great pictures there.

I forgot to tell you how much I love your porch.

Thanks for the advice on the planters! how many do you think i should look at getting and how should i arrange them?

Thanks again!

That blank wall to the right would look good with one of those raised multi level units..like this.......

You can have a ton of different planters in all shapes and sizes there is a lot of space(at least it looks like it from the pics)
Are you planning on putting any seating?I can see a bench against the wall on the left...is that the doorway there?
You can even do a fountain in that right hand corner. So many possibilities.

The great news is you have a blank slate to start with. I would divide it into a few different sitting areas, grouping chairs, a table or two and clusters of pots. You could also do a small potted tree (even a tropical that would be an annual if you're in a colder zone) in a key spot. Then find a vine you can keep in a pot and let it climb up one of the walls so you get some vertical height going. This can be a great space-- just draw it out on paper first and you'll start to see it take shape. Also, consider a small fountain so you get the water element going.

So after a long week of everything from home depot sending me home with the wrong paint to running out of it in the middle of the project.... its finally done. I have gotten it painted!!! ( i still have the tape down because im going to touch up the edges.) I think it looks alot better! That how it originally looked but i bet it hasnt been painted in 50 years. Thanks for the suggestions! I have 1 planter( am going to get more) and i am about to purchase a little bistro table set and probably a bench... The fountain ideas are great! Thanks for the help and ill keep u guys updated.

Can't wait to see it all filled in.

I think an outdoor rug would be pretty in one of your seating areas.
