I have three, two year old Spanish Lavender plants, full of blossoms. Do I need to dead head them when they're done? It would be a big undertaking since the plants are full of those little pineapple blossoms.
Any suggestions IF they have to be dead headed?

Spanish Lavender
I generally shear mine down as the blooms are fading--shearing is easier than trying to cut the flowers off individually. If you don't ever cut them back, they tend to get kind of woody at the base and not as nice looking, and at that point you're out of luck because lavenders don't usually respond well to severe pruning. So I try to keep up with them by shearing them back as they're finishing bloom.
