nice shimmer in that photo on the lower left
Garden Photo's 09 .........24
Thanks Patti! I'm not normally one for flowering quince's, but that one struck a chord with me the first time I ever saw it and has every since. I agree with Allison, that iris has a very nice shimmer to it.
Thanks Patti, Boojum, Shelly and Allison!
Great photos, Boojum and Patti!
Boojum, I love your yellow rose, and the mauve Rugosa is very nice, too.
Patti, great white iris!
Here are some more pics from yesterday.....
Karen
Here is my Scarlet O' Hara. Colors become more pinkish as they age. It's starting to go by now.
nice pictures everyone - really great
karen thanks for the tip - except no one uses a shovel here except me:)
Bill.... I share the same exact sentiments!! but, maybe if you're going to dig them anyways.......
All pretty, but that noid is lovely.
Everytime I let someone else help me in the yard, I end up thinking 'what in the heck were you thinking when you did that.' and then to myself...'what in the heck was I thinking that this would be different than any other time.' lol.
LOL! I know what you mean! I had a friend help with weeding a few times. She is not meticulous about it like I am. I thought I might as well do it myself.
Karen
Geese Karen.... you didn't sleep much last night. Unless you were posting pictures in your sleep!
burn baby burn - this spirea is popping up all over the yard, it's gotta go
which sedum is that karen?
What kind of spirea is it that's invasive like that?
Nuts-your blooms are fantastic!
Booj- Summer Sky is a nice one! I love your orchid wall- looks like the orchid wall at Longwood Gardens.
not sure shelly - it was here when we bought the house. victor has some as well i believe, or some of the same family. i am constantly pulling up new starts and have some that grew through a wall that i can't get to the roots.
i moved a few out back and now i find it everywhere - yes this is it's final stand. i hope
Great shots all! Love the JM shot, booj.
Yes, I have spirea all over too. One of these days I'll have to rip it out. My two are Little Princess and Goldflame.
love that noid TBI
I love my spirea, but hate all the dead heading. No problem with them being invasive, so far. I have had most of them for well over 20 years, but I whack them back in the fall each year to keep them the right size. I have dug many divisions and planted them when I needed to fill up a hole instantly. I should replace those with more desirable shrubs. I will send my overflow to Wha and Victor. I love the bright chartreuse foliage on 'Goldmound' but hate the pink flowers. Off with their heads! This was taken yesterday with what I assume is SIB 'Caesar's Brother' which needs dividing too. Patti
Oh, Allison...yes that Pam's Choice was from you...thanks!!!!
victor is goldflame invasive?
yeah... glad all yours are better than mine... LOL... and your welcome Jen
aaawww look at little Rosie!!!
Booj:
I love the glimpses of your gardens in Posts #6629217 and #6629266. Simply gorgeous.
A few collages, I have to many pics to post them individually. I was taking single pic shots of my hosta...No way am I going to tempt the fates and try and upload them all to dave's, I'd be here all day long...lol.
Upper left: the NO I.D. pink rose that is indestructible
Upper right: No I.D. peony
Middle: Wigela 'Carnival'
Bottom left: another No I.D. peony
Bottom right: It's a "I swear to you I never planted this" peony
Collage number 2:
Upper left: Wigela 'Wine and Roses' with some friends. Old Fashioned white BH, and 'Batik' Iris off to the side.
Upper right: I forget, my brain is done. I think it's an Aconitum, but I have no clue.
Middle: 'Sweet Kate' Spiderwart
Bottom left: The wisteria I'm training into a standard.
Bottom right: I believe that is the crazy looking Allium 'Schubertii' I need to get more for next year...they are crazy.
Collage number 3:
Upper left: 'Iceberg' rose
Upper right: It's a "I know the tag is around here somewhere" peony
Middle: Not sure of this Kalmia/Mt. Laurel. It was purchased on a "Buy me now before I'm composted/90% off sale." I've had it planted for about 5 years, give or take, this is the first year for any bloom!
Bottom left: refer to description in Upper right
Bottom right: I thought this was 'Royal Wedding' OP...but after comparing pics with someone else on DG, I'm not sure. It is pretty though :-)
Nice blooms, Thom
JoAnn I like that apple green and purple combo
thanks This is the "Where do I put THIS" garden, just an unplanned catchall. Sometimes they work out.
daisygirl.... that's an adorable pic of your pug. She's so cute!
Thom... those are all very pretty!
Wow, that's good info Bill and Victor! I had no idea that either of those types of spirea would be such a pest. Spirea rarely reseeds here.
Jo Ann... I think that everybody has one of those areas, yours looks nice.
Beautiful photos Karen, Patti and Thom!
Bill - Goldflame re-seeds a bit, but nothing compared to Little Princess.
wow Thom you have a lot going on there... I love love love my carnival!!!
I like that Lime Sorbet Ge
ok if your penstemon is blooming... mine from Van Bourgondien is dead for sure... I see no growth ... just emailed them about it... bummer
I can't keep up with you guys! I've seen so many plants I want, & the gardens are looking terrific. Thom, I think you have a delph---aconitum is usually later----Jo Ann----nice combos----Daisy, do you start the fava beans inside? Rosie looks puzzled---Booj, loved all of your photos. Karen, love the peony. In art class today, one of the ladies said her DH's uncle was Dr. McEwen, who hybridized all those Siberians---she brought a lovely yellow one in. Victor, I have the same penstemon---looks great, but no buds. Here is my shade garden starting to fill back in-----
