I read that a 10 20 10 fertilizer is necessary for blossoms. Tried all the garden centers and checked online -- can't find any! This is the first time I've planted this vine on my antique arbor. Cold weather this spring. Covered the plants last night when it got below 50 degrees.
Fertilizer for Mandevilla in IL
I'll start by saying that I don't know what the best fertilizer is for mandevilla, but assuming that whoever told you 10-20-10 was correct, you don't necessarily need to find something that is exactly 10-20-10. The principle is that the middle number is higher than the other two, so most fertilizers that you find where the numbers are in about the same proportion as 10-20-10 should work OK. I would check out fertilizers labeled Bloom Boosters...these tend to have a higher middle number and should probably be close enough.
