The other two right beside it are fine? What happened to this guy? And more importantly, what can I do about it? I have a lot of hostas.
what is eating this hosta?
Could be slugs or snails, they love hostas. Sluggo is one thing that you can use for them, probably other brands too but make sure you check that the active ingredient is iron phosphate not metaldehyde (metaldehyde is very toxic to pets, iron phosphate is much safer for everyone but the slugs)
Oh no! That's what I was afraid of. I read one slug can have 400 offspring by season's end. I guess sluggo is going on the grocery list!
Thank you again
PS How come they are only eating this guy and not the others?
Who knows! LOL I'm sure they'll get to the others eventually if you don't do something about them.
They don't like travelling over anything 'pokey" so you can put something with sharp edges around your hostas.
