Is the stuff that comes out of grasshoppers when you catch them tobacco. I heard it as a kid.

The tobacco that people smoke/chew comes from tobacco plants not from grasshoppers.

The stuff that comes out of their mouths is not tobacco juice. It's a defensive chemical that happens to look like it. I heard that as a kid, too.

I am so freaked out by grasshoppers it is not funny. My husband drags me to these fishing holes on "deer paths" and they jump on you and cling.....I scream he calls me a girl.

I heard the tobacco thing as a kid too but I tried to stay as far away as possible. Knowing yucky grasshoppers it is probably vomit.
