Am I to late to start from seed?

Hazlet, NJ

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if or when I should plant my broccoli seeds? I have two varieties, Green Goliath, and George's Favorite Blend. I also wanted to plant two varieties carrots from seed, Royal Kuroda, and Nantes Half Long. I am in zone 7 NJ. I love this site! Any help is appreciated :-)

Just in case you're in a hurry, you can Google something like "vegetable planting dates" and then your county or state. You can also call your local county extension agent and they can tell you.

Those are cool weather crops. So you might be able to start seeds inside for a fall garden depending on what temps. you get during the summer.

Thanks to you both! I'll search google and start some indoors just for the fun of it. Since I'm new here I am not sure if I have to mark this as closed or something so I'll check what others have done and come back.
THANKS AGAIN!

No you don't need to do anything. Somebody else may want to add info or continue the discussion. You only need to do that on seed/plant trading or the Market place.
Keep us posted Good Luck,

I am a gardener who doesnt necessarily follow the rules...LOL. I start quite a few things 'off season' and do ok with them. tho some of the cool weather crops just cant make it here in the summer, but Ive started peppers a month off, and peas, cukes and squash.... and all have done just fine. like I always say, doesnt hurt to take a few seeds and experiment.

Cue-chik, you are so right I never start my stuff on time and the weather here is so unpredictable that it wouldn't matter if I did. Just try it and see what happens.
