Carolyn - great to hear it isn't too late. Guess I'd better bone up on them this afternoon so I can get started on them when I get home after work. Let the family fend for themselves for dinner. I've got gardening to do! :-)

Thanks for the heads up about saving scarlet runner beans. I also have some left over if anyone wants some.

Here's one of my new babies this year. I took all the tropicals out of my lanai and plunged them along my fence . I want to eventually have a cut flower garden here but couldn't take all the monotonous digging. This way my tropicals get some sunshine. My lanai gets a thorough cleaning and the digging is almost done.

To all the seedfairies (as opposed to toothfairies!): Thank you sooooo much for the seeds! I will have to spend some time figuring out what's what and when/how to germinate plant them- how exciting! Thank you!!!!

There are Angels among us, disguised as people who have truly touched and blessed the lives of others and brought many a smile to a face. Thank you to all of those Angels who brightened an otherwise stressful and monotonous life. You have no idea the magic you have created!

HERE HERE!!!! If I were a drinking person, I'd drink to that, but am not, so I'll just say, "WELL SAID".

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Thank You Kelly and Meekos. Jan you are harder on you than you are on me if you think mine makes your look sick. There is a package on the way to you also. You should have it tomorrow or Sat .

And you know who you are your packages will go in the mail tomorrow.
Robin

Robin, you also have a package coming and I told the post man I wanted it there by saturday since some has been slow lately, and I appreciate all you've done for me. I have to tell you this, I'm still laughing. I got a package today and when I opened it, it said- I'm a baby Tina- please don't fry me- I'm not food. This angel sent me ANOTHER TINA water plant after I cooked the pads from the heat before. Can you believe that darling? This was the whole plant, roots and all. She is at the top of my GOT TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR THEM, list.

Looks great. You have done a great job. I can't wait to see it finished.

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi Jan
It isn't a great angle for the picture. I will try a new one tomorrow after I finish planting Ill try a different spot to take it from.

Hi Arejay

So glad you could use the seeds. I wasn't so sure you would take partial pkgs. I have lots of veggies and herbs if you do. I also wasn't sure how to tell if the seeds were still viable. Hate to send seeds that won't germinate.

I love both yours and Mekos ponds. That is hard work. It's those rocks! :) You both did a great job. I want one!!! Maybe next year. This year I have a 'plunge' project along my fence.

Sherri

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Hi Gals,
Just stepping in to ask where in the world do you all get your rocks ? I want some and everyplace around here wants a small fortune for them. ROCKS of all things costing that much ?

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Sherri
We love partial packages!! Is there a date on the leftover? Even 3 years on some things is ok.

Flower ~~ I did'nt buy those it would cost a small fortune for all the rocks, they were just out there in the yard just made due with what is there.

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Sherri,
What is a plunge project?

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

Mekos and Robin,

Tho I cant really put in a water garden here (Im renting) you have given me an idea to start collecting rocks for a 'dry' pond. and really, the rocks here arent really rocks, they are chunks of cement from when these houses were built, I keep finding them all over the place. BUT, I may just put in a little 'dry' pond area in the back yard. Have to think about it a little more :)

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Kelly,
That is a great idea !! You have sparked creative juices flowing all over the country now!!Take pictures!!

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

I am nervous about planting the plants everyone has sent for my pond, Im not sure I completely get it but, I am going to try it Mittsy thank you again for the directions.

Cocoa Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Kelly,
I went to an open house on a garden tour (in FL) and she had a wonderful water garden in a small tub. I was so impressed with her blooming LA Iris Black Gamecock. It was in a pot sunk in the water. She is a member of Dave's Garden. I'll ask her to post a picture.

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

Thanks Mittsy! I had thought about a water 'tub' garden before. But i have seen where peopel put in dry riverbeds or streams in their backyard ( I watch alot of DIY and HGTV) so why not a 'dry' pond? I already have a fountain ont he patio to give that sound of running water, so I dont really need to have a fully functioning pond, but oh, wouldnt it be cute to have the look of one?

HI Arejay

I have a Japanese Iris planted in an old 5 gal crock. It doesn't drain. It stays very moist if not wet and it seems to love it. Same with a lotus. I planted in an old butter churn. It's only a couple of months old but it's going for it. Cue_chik you could plunge these in your dry pond.

I took all the tropicals from my lanai and plunged them pot and all in the ground next to my fence. I wanted a cut garden next to the fence but couldn't abide all the endless digging. So now my tropicals get some sun, my fence line gets dug up and I can finally clean the mess from my lanai. I'm almost finished. Somehow the digging wasn't so boring. lol
