Hello everyone,
Which company is a good source of vegetable seeds online?
I purchased some seeds from Parkseed and to my surprise they were all of foreign origin, mainly China. Also the packets had no plant description, picture etc, making it difficult for a beginner gardener to identify, specially the flower seeds.
The garden I have now I either purchased local small plants or bought the seeds at Lowe's, do I have other options for good reliable seeds online?
Online seed sources
Here's a couple that I use online... there are many though.
http://swallowtailgardenseeds.com/
http://www.johnnyseeds.com/
http://www.burpee.com/
http://henryfields.com/
http://www.gardeners.com/
And of course there's Lowes and Home Depot
I've also looked at these sites for next year but haven't used their services yet... Lots of open pollination (OP) and Heirlooms

So many options it's hard to choose.
I really like Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. Their web site is www.rareseeds.com. They have a lot of unique varieties and are really helpful.

Check out www.superseeds.com Pine Tree Garden Seeds. I like them, because they have smaller quantities of seeds in the package - cost less. Also prompt service.
I really like Botanical Interests. They're seed packets have a wealth of information and beautiful illustrations. I also get close to 100% germination from their seeds. They are a family owned company based in Colorado and they are awesome to deal with.

What an informative thread! Thanks, everyone.
I've used some of those recommended, and others are new to me--which is great!
One other source I have used is dianeseeds.com.

She specializes in heirloom and unusual varieties. Her prices are good for the large quantity of seeds she offers in each pack. I am also glad to hear about PIne Tree Seeds, who offer smaller quantities.
--Emily, who is busy transplanting into pots FAR too many veggie seedlings.
Thank you all for taking time to reply. You can never have too many good seed sources from reputable companies. It's great to know who to buy from and who to avoid.
Thanks again and if there are any more options out there please let us know :-)
I know this is late but wanted to add these great sites.
Superseeds.com, the website for Pinetree Gardens.
Harrisseeds.com, wonderful gardening supplies
Reneesgarden.com, all organic. excellent info on how to grow plants.
tinkersgardens.com, website of a prolific Texas gardener, huge garden. uses some organic techniques
I'd like to second Baker Creek, and for tomatoes, I use TomatoFest. Very happpy with both, although I never use all the seed. I would love to find a place with organic seeds that offers smaller quantities. I like lots of variety, so seldom use an entire packet. The remaining amounts are not enough to share in seed trading, so I often waste them when no-one local wants these oddball varieties. Right nowI have extra tomato plants of odd colors that I can'teven give away. Sigh.
I ordered some hard to find seeds from Bunton's this year because they were the only place that had all of what I was looking for. I was so impressed with their reasonable prices, fast service and communication!

I second www.harrisseeds.com everything ive ordered from them have been spectacular. Also my other main source www.Tastefulgarden.com also excellent for live plants and seeds. The customer service and plants/seeds for both are A+ in IMO.
