These canterbury bells are just huge this year. I think they will need another stake soon!
Summer... share your pic's
Beahive, those Caterbury bells are gorgeous. I love blue in the garden. I've never seen any that color before.
twbmom..the canterbury bells are more of a blue/purple, but photograph more blue. Either way they are very beautiful.
Oh, wow, Bea! Those delphs are gorgeous and huge. I have delphinium envy. :)
Glad you were able to ID your campanula! They really do look a lot like balloon flowers; especially the open blooms.
I LOVE that blue, BeaHive. It's good to know what delphiniums look like when they are mature, as I planted my first 6 just this spring, and they are all barely 2 inches tall. Doubt I will see blooms this year.
As for the Campanula persicifolia, that is one of my favorite plants. The ones I planted last year are getting quite tall and are starting to form buds.
Your roses are really gorgeous, too. How many different kinds do you have?
peony8. you may see blooms on your delphiniums this year and they can get 3-4 ft the first year. Mine are in thier second and third season so are large now. They are a wonderful plant.
I have 50-60 rose bushes of different varities. Had more but have lost many over the past two years during our damp & cold winters. I decided not to replace them at this time as it gets expensive and no matter how nice of a hole one digs here, the minute they hit the aweful green clay they die. We also have a high water table which is not helping the roses. Next house...higher elevation and raised beds for the roses. ;(
Cherry parfait is a rose that has done well here.

BeaHive, you should try those knockout roses. They are low maintenance, fantastic, hardy and disease resistance and blooms from early spring until first hard frost! They are easy to propagate too. Just stick them in the ground and they will root.
I have never had any luck propagating roses. I will have to try the Knockout. I just bought 1 last week. Is now a good time, or is it too late to try to propogate them?
Lynn, it's too hot here for us, but you can do it in early fall. May be you can do it in a container and move it out to the sun later once it's establish. Mid spring or early fall is when I do mine. They are very easy to propagate. Find a big stem and cut off all the leaves except 2 on top, dip in rooting medium and then into the dirt.
Thank you for the advice. Our weather is about mid 70's, so I will try them now. I also have a small 8x12 GH, but it might be too hot in there at times.
mid 70s. Wow! I could feel the nice cool breeze just thinking about it. I am sweating like a dog working in the garden. I really should be done gardening in June but the stupid deer keep eating my Morning Glory vines before I could put them in the ground! Aarrrrggghhhh!
I have some cute daylillies that I just got from flea market in Alabama. I will have to post pictures soon.
Is the Disneyland rose a hybrid tea?
Disneyland is on my want list, along with 20 or so others! Not enough room, so I'll have to pare down. And I hate to get rid of a rose, but if there's one I'm not crazy about, I may, so I can try a new one. BeaHive, I SO wish we could grow delphiniums! Those are beautiful.
Weird color for Pat Austin today
I'm loving all these pictures! Beahive, which delphinium is that 5' deep blue one?
Bea, that dragonfly photo is stunning! I love dragonflies.
I do too. That is a stunning photo. They never sit still long enough to capture them in a photo.
Peony8..I believe you. It does take numerous tries to capture these fast flying critter. He is very handsome !!
