Ok... no one specified WHAT kind of container garden photos to post...so here we go.. some of my orchid babies.

This is a mini orchid I got myself for Mother's Day. The group of plants were totally over watered and many were rotting. This one was questionable, but it pulled through. I put in the $ bill so you can really see how small it is.

LOVE THIS LITTLE THING!

These are my more mature orchids. I've had most of these for 5 years or more.

This is "Summer Beach"
I got this orchid online in 2004. It is a TRUE peach colored orchid, and my favorite of all I own. I took the photo in portrait mode against a dark background and I was thrilled with this photo

Ok...you get the drift.

Oh...and I grow African Violets too...

I'll spare you the individual photos... here's the family shots. I have 27 of them, but I rotate them around as they bloom.

You know, I do pretty well with outdoor plants, but I can kill one indoors in a week.

Westford, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm the same, though I had pretty good luck with African violets and Christmas cactus. And I don't think *anyone* can kill philodendron, lol.

some cat mint that is getting carried away, the only thing is I don't know how to prune this??? Anyone know?

Catmint is a "pinch tips in June" but since yours is flowering (gorgeously)...once it's done...cut back by 1/3. Should produce another show late summer/early fall then.

You could divide it in the fall too if it gets to big/dense for it's place.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

This is my centaurea amethyst in snow I just love this one. It isn't doing too well where I have it so I'll have to think about moving it.

Thank you so much. Funny thing is this plant last year, (this is only my second year for my garden) flowered all season long.

Janet, I believe your 'loss of memory' plant is Dianthus gratianopolitanus 'Firewitch'. It won PPY in 2006, and mine has been blooming for weeks with no sign of stopping any time soon.

And I think your catmint looks gorgeous as is! But if you think it's getting to big for its spot, you can shear after blooming or divide, as QuoiMerrie has said.

Very nice gardens!

Uhoh.........

I see I put my photos in the WRONG THREAD. I thought I was still in container gardening. If i could more them or delete them I would. Any suggestions on how I can get them out of here?

Hyannis, MA(Zone 7a)

Janet..think your plant is Dianthus Tiny rubies.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Highmtn..don't worry about posting in the wrong thread. I am sure everyone will enjoy seeing your beautiful orchids & A/V's . I know I have enjoyed them very much. They are all beautiful!

Calif-sue..to confirm I found the tag (got poked by thorns in the process!! LOL) but my rose is officially Jacobs Robe. :)

One of my grape poppies bloomed yesterday. It was cloudy so I will need to wait for the full bloom.

Ahhh, the newer one, it's a very nice rose as I have seen so far. I did the name mixup at first too, even labeled several photos that way in PF before I caught it and then had to redo them. I took this shot last year at a nursery, lovely playful colors.

So many awesome photos! I have grown centaurea in the past, but only in a blue! I love the two tone! Cute kitty! Gorgeous rose... amazing rich colored poppy!

So... the sun popped out, but there is a steady breeze. Things could be in better focus but it wasn't going to happen. I moved the orange sherbet iris from a little cottage I had purchased in ID years ago, so...no name. It was there when I bought the place.

This iris was supposed to be DARK BLUE and white. Guess someone reached into the wrong bin when they filled my order. When we get the picket fence up I'll go after the dark blue again, but I'll buy locally.

This double knockout rose was on the "half dead" table last year at Walmart...lol I bought it home, and this year it's much happier! However, the back of the bush is blooming way ahead of the front..lol Must be the heat from the house.

This Rhody has been a challenge. I've hit it with iron...and have showered TLC on it, but it still wants to lean towards a yellow look. I may take a piece into our Master Gardner's to see what they say.

I enjoyed those beautiful orchid shots too. I keep thinking I ought to try orchids----someday! LOL!

My daisies are just starting to bloom this last week. I'm not sure what this variety is.

Interesting poppy Beahive! My poppies are blooming all over the yard again too. Plain orange ones.

This photo has the daisies, took it early morning.

This little trooper was a salvage from the fire. This GUY said he could move my massive old Rhody. We prepped a perfect place, and when he recklessly pulled it with his backhoe he broke 1/3 of it off. I almost fainted. I could not bear to throw away the broken part. There was a handful of very fine root hairs at the base of the branch. I tossed into a barrel half...and kept it watered and fed. HA! Now... I worry it's going to outgrow the barrel half and THEN WHAT? It's happy in there so far...lol Unfortunately, the parent plant has been struggling since the relocation and I'm going to cut it way back in a "go for broke" move here shortly.

This daylily is popping out a bloom daily now. I don't know the names on my daylilies.

Thumbnail by cactuspatch
Cliff Dweller, WA(Zone 8b)

Cactus..
Your yard is just STUNNING with that stucco wall for the back drop! Those are some type of Shasta but there are so many varieties and heights of them now. I have switched out all my daisies to the "Becky Daisy". They do not break over in the wind. They just bob around and stay upright. LOVE THEM. I actually love all daisies!

I also have a few daylillies that are due to bloom IF I can keep the deer from munching them in bud! Grrrrrrrrrrr As soon as we get the picket fence up (in the next month...I hope I hope).. then I can start with my climbers.

Thanks on the orchids. Just go for Phalaenopis (Moth orchids). They are house orchids, and grow/bloom very easily. The like the temps you like, and I heat with wood in the winter. They just managed to survive and thrive. I used to have fussy orchids too, but they drove me nuts...and died easily. I don't have a green house to pamper them in and they weren't happy.

Ok...this is my funny. I decided to be practical this year and planted "window box" tomatoes in my window boxes...LOL They are already setting flower blooms. I figure once the marigolds bush out it will be a conversation starter for sure...LOLOL

Thumbnail by Highmtn
Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

I will make a note of that if I get up the courage to try the orchids. One thing that is always important here is having a nice overhang--which I was so happy this house had 3 very large porches to keep the house cool in summer. However, I don't have much light that get through for house plants and grow mostly ivies and hoyas.

Neat window box. I would never have thought of tomatoes, but if it is in full sun it should produce.

Thanks for the kind comment on the last photo. Those daisies stay short and don't flop. They don't bloom as much as the taller varieties I used to have though. We don't get much wind here and the wall helps with that too. We are in the foothills so I guess that helps with the wind.

This is a larkspur that I was excited to see the color of this year. I bought a pack of mixed seeds. White, pink, and blue probably 15-20 years ago. They cross with each other and reseed yearly. I have the 3 solid colors that still come up yearly without me ever planting.

CactusPatch I am SOOOOOO envious of that larkspur it is gorgeous

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

LOL! I feel blessed by Mother Nature when this kind of thing happens. That is one of the most fun parts of gardening for me--the serendipity. ; )

Cliff Dweller, WA(Zone 8b)

My FIL once had his butternut squash get happy with his zucchini. I'm telling you what... it may have been amusing to see the zucchini patterns/color on the butternut squash shape (and vice~versa), but ALL of it was completely inedible...LOL B-I-T-T-E-R AS ALL GET OUT!

As far as that FABULOUS Larkspur goes...I highly suggest you SAVE all the seed from that beaaaaaaaauty! You really have something SPECTACULAR THERE!!

Interesting squash intermingle! I have saved the seed before when they do that kind of thing and never get the same colors again. The last time I saved them and they came back solid pink.

Cactus
Ah yes... I understand that flower not being true to the parent plant trick! Then I guess Mother Nature just gave you an awesome treat for the summer! There is an African Violet colored sort of like that. I have a leaf starting now that I traded for. A leaf start can also vary from a seed started AV. I've seen that too. The leaf can be from the same plant as the seed, and the bloom can vary. Crazy...

BeaHive
Did you ever remember the name of the beautiful blue flower photo you posted up on May 30th? That is soooo pretty! I also loved that two tone Iris posted on the same date with the lupines! What zone are you in?

Night night all.....
