Methodical, hummers check and recheck where they found food.
I move a feeder from the south side of the house to the north when
its more summer-like to keep the feeder cooler and the little sippers
just circle around and can't believe the 24 hr fastfood outlet just
disappeared and like some miracle reappeared on the other side.
I do take down my real big feeder for the summer and put it back up
for autumn and early winter. Good luck and hope they visit.
This one doing a U turn, almost blended in to the scenery.
WESTERN HUMMINGBIRDS VOL 3
Duc and Dirt, it did return I saw it briefly this evening. I had to move the feeder away from the others to give it a little more privacy, but it's till near where once was so that the hummer will find it. The other birds scared it off.
Thanks

Meth, it will be persistent and return. Believe me, my Rufous hummers have always been tough little ones. The larger birds may scare them off, but they just fly to a tree or bush and wait for the other bird to leave the feeder.
Dirt, cute pictures. my guess is that you have a female Rufous there. By the way, I liked you hyssop so much that I ordered a similar one for my yard.
Nice pics dirt!
We've had hail once but not anything like seen on the news.
a fantail shot, sortof,
someday want one like adel and duc have shown.
Duc, easy to grow and forgot I had them there,
last year there was a bambi problem who ate everything
that grew night after night, Stuck in statis, larkspur and
stock, so mildly surprised to see it up and getting established.
Put in a fence, a long one, that has solved the deer problem,
and now rabbits -- too many to be cute. I stopped the coyotes
from getting them now I have to run rabbit fencing against the
deer fence. There is a smorgas (sp) board out there but they
are coming in and just ravaging the ground cover, carnations,
and more.
Pelle grad you didn't have to shovel. Think ya'll getting our
rainy season.
gotto go, enjoy the day
Love those colors on the Rufous. You're so lucky out there to get different kinds.
Dirt, your delphy is so beautiful and the hummers sure seem to love it too. Cute pictures. I'm still not sure if that's a female or an immature male Rufous. So far, I'm betting on a female, but hymmmm. We'll have to keep an eye on it. Shower??? You're so lucky. The hummers love showers.
Here's a happy little guy, an Anna's.
You are right, Dirt. But since I only get the fall migration of just one kind of hummingbird, I still say that you are lucky to get different kinds out west.
Very nice ones guys!
Good ones adel! Love the juvie Rufous!
Nice ones adel and duc!
Nice pic dirt.
Very nice pics dirt!
Wonderful pics duc!
Love all of the pictures, you guys. My feeders are very busy these days, also, but my lighting is bad for photos (and my point and shoot can't do them justice like your cameras can.)
Saw my first Hummingbird today. It caught me unprepared to snap a photo, I was outside, camera was inside. It was just before I left to run an errand. It was at my clear fluid feeder. I think it was a Ruby-throated female.
So far I've seen nothing at my red fluid feeder.
