I wonder how many of you have watched this programme from the BBC. I haven't seen it since I moved house and don't even know if it is still being shown. However, I was doing some research and came across a memorial garden they were designing for the murdered English TV girl Jill Dando. What I particularly liked about this site, apart from the marvellous tribute to Jill, was the info on how to make structures and also the plant identification. I especially love the Diascia and grew it back home. Would love to find it over here.
Ground Force Team
Sis we have been so busy with other things that our dish is not up yet. Seems to me that this should be a priority now so that when the weather turns bad we can still be mesmerised by the creativity of these gardeners. I'll take care of it tomorrow!!
Sis if you get lonesome while your hubbie is away you can always mail me for a chat. I have a hunch I am going to really feel the cold for the first time since moving - we are more elevated here. Back to the dish - I hate them in the garden but there is no other way other than an aerial on the roof and I don't particularly want that. I wonder if we can disguise it with trellis and would it still work!
Thank you Louisa,it does get lonely at times.
About the dish now,a trellis would work'
I've installed garden arches in our yard near our dish, with Jackmanii climbing on them, lovely' I didn't want the dish on our roof as with the flying snow builds up on them. Not going to climb a ladder and fall either' I also plant tall sunflowers(zebra giants)to disguise the pole beside the arch and other flowers too' Personally,I don't like anything attached to my roof' But if there's no other way, then hope you have a way to clear your dish, safely'
I gave up on Ground Force, can't bear Charlie Dimmock, she runs a local nursery and is far to snooty to deal with. Fame goes to peoples heads I guess.
And I wish she would wear a bra. Not that I'm against going bra-less - I personally love that freedom....lol!!
But she has no T-shirt sense of style and I think she looks awful. But the other people on the team are just great!!
Louisa
I worked really hard to get where I did in agriculture, I not only faced prejudice for being from the city but also because I'm short and female. In many ways you have to play down being a female so much that you lose what makes being a woman special.
Sometimes I felt like giving up, and then I see a woman who has no great plant or gardening knowledge becoming an 'expert gardener' because she is on the TV and doesn't wear a bra. (I'm sure theres an unfair statement there but thats how it seems)
If I known that was the way to climb the ladder I'd have started going braless 12 years ago LOL
ROFL - My first laugh today Baa - thanks so much!!! Not your experiences trying to make it in a man's world, but your last remark!! I do love Alan Titchmarsh though...no pun intended and I believe I have spelt his name right but look at the first three letters of his last name....lol!! Oh gosh - that was naughty...lol!
LOL! Just remember the axiom "the bigger they are, the harder they fall." My mama didn't specifically mean it about the matter at hand, but it is equally true about subjects near and dear to our female hearts. :)
Oh Terry how funny!! I could really vent about this girl Charlie but I think we have vented enough just lately and I don't want to be unkind but oh my goodness, she's a one!! Have you seen her on her own show? She literally bounces down the street with her army behind her....lol!!
Louisa, I haven't seen her. Does her show air on a U.S. station? I'll have to tune in and watch just for the giggles and grins.
Well if I ever did do a Dimmock I'd certainly be more noticable LOL. Oh well, I suppose I can be happy in the fact that I made it because I was good at my job ... hmm I wonder if I can still get away with it *Grin*
Sure you can Baa - good to know you were blessed in all the right places....lol!! Terry, the show comes on BBC America but since we moved in June our telly has gone down the tubes and we only pick up about five channels. Our dish is waiting to be erected!! And yes, you would grin and giggle a little, especially as every time the team does the garden makeover it invariably rains...lol!!
ROFLOL,Baa,Louisa,Terry, never dreamed of having this much fun, what a hoot, lol''ALL you say is TRUE,lol''
From a woman,5'2",150lb.that manually(no pallet jack) unloaded a 53ft'dry van,of Pillsbury Flour in Little Rock,Arkansas,ALONE''DH was very sick, could barely drive the tractor let alone help me unload. Air temp was 113Fdegrees, inside the trailer around a million, lol'
The dock workers(all men)laughed, taunted, whistled, whatever,I had a job to do,ignored them' They refused to give me a light to see the product in the nose of the trailer,oh well. DH was helping keep count of my pallets,tied5(50lb.bags),6 high' Ended up retieing 9 pallets because it was too dark in the trailer'Never been so determined to get a job done and drop'
By now,I could barely stand let alone walk' My boots were saturated with perspiration. Even holding our paperwork was awkward, hands hurt terribly. As I walked the dock to get them signed off and leave,ya could have heard a "pin drop"
Handed them to the doc foreman to sign and he says"good job"' I looked him in the eye and said"thank you" Sis'
Sis you do the female species proud!! You certainly showed them what you were made of - and us too :-) You have my admiration!!
Bless your heart Sis - you deserve some praise for your endeavours. I doubt whether some men would even have attempted what you did. My question is this - why didn't those men bystanders help you?
Sis your Hubby is a trucker? mine is to :)
Oh that's OK Sis - never thought for one moment you were ignoring me...lol!! And by the way, have made note of your great ideas to hide that ugly old dish :-) Where is your DH now? He could have stopped by and had a bite to eat with us!!
Good Mornin'Louisa, did you get your dish yet? Hope so' DH is on his way, need to be there tomorrow,am. Looks more like Thurs.as they were delayed 6hr. You're very kind Louisa, thank you for the offer' I miss the road very much and all the great people I've met over the years. No one realizes how good it is to be out of a truck and do nothing but to relax with friends'Plus the bonus of enjoying a meal'
((((Sis)))) - A thought occurred to me about Charlie!! The BBC has always been know as Auntie BBC, not quite sure why but wonder if perhaps it was because she is a little prudish, or used to be. Remember I haven't been home for a while now. But it seems to me, if she is still quite prudish that she didn't offer to buy Charlie a bra....lol!!
ROFL Sis - never thought of that. You have to admit though, she does do a great job with those water features...lol!!
Yes Sis, he's an all-round type of guy!! Very round!!
You're right about that Sis and you can't see his crease above his trousers - I absolutely hate that...lol!! I think it's time I went and had a hot drink before going to bed. Feel quite tired after all this giggling...lol!!
