Emma - Your "frosty" Hot Pink above reminds me of my Diluted Fuji no Muraski that I am growing. How do you get the "frost" to become more prominent?

Fuji Hot Pink Frost is a real "looker"!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Ronnie. . .
The Fuji Hot Pink Frost is turning out to be one of my favorites.

Becky . . .

I was doing mine by selection. Even though they are all very beautiful, I was trying to get the blooms to have more of the larger and wider white spokes. These I marked the pods and self pollinated the bloom and grew them out to see how much they changed. That was about it. Below is one of my Fuji Hot Pink Frost that is also very pretty.

I grew a MG much like you are growing this year about 3 years ago and have not grown it out yet to see if is going to stabilize. I'll see if I can find one of my photos of that for you to compare with yours. I would LOVE to have some of your seeds of your Diluted Fuji no Muraski. It is Very Nice!

Emma - Your Fuji Blue Frost is really pretty! I hope it come true from your seeds!

I hope to get enough seeds from the Diluted Fuji No Muraski vine to share with everyone who wants some seeds. But if not, I plan to grow out another seed to see if I can keep trying to get lots of seeds from that one. Time will tell how many seeds I am going to get this year...

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Becky,
I too hope it grows out True. Some of the blooms have much more Frost than others.

Have you thought of taking a couple or so cuttings from your MG. They root very easily in water. Then you can plant those and have even more growing.
Just a thought.

Emma,

I believe the Diluted Fuji No Murasaki is also one of yours. In 2007 I bought some seeds from you on ebay, Blue Frost, Plum Frost, and Apricot Candy, etc . Included in one of these purchases was a gift bag of seeds that reads "Blue Mix-5 seeds" I think your records will confirm this. When I planted them, I believe a hard rain washed them down the incline in the yard, which is why I thought they were volunteers.

Hi Sarah,

It does seem that we discussed that when you grew that little beauty.

Unfortunantly the cuttings you sent to me didn't make it, but I do have my two seeds that you sent me going for the year, so we shall see what they produce.

Here is the link to Sarah's beauty

Emma,
Sorry about the cuttings .I had no experience with them, and they were really puny. I hope the seeds come true. The original seeds from you must have been tough seeds. They were washed 15 feet from the original place! I'm surprised 2 of them made it. The second seed that germinated looked like a normal Fuji No Murasaki, but I took it out when I saw the diluted one.

Emma.. still loving that plum one, but the Fugi Pink Frost is looking really pretty to me as well.. I would love to see an Apricot Candy! Debra

Sarah,
Wasn't your fault on the cutting, I believe it was just the wrong time of year - but we tried!
I will also look forward to what these seeds do. Hope they are as pretty as what you grew.

Thanks Debra . . .

Thanks Debra, Joseph, Sarah and Eliz -

Eliz is correct, this is Ipomoea sloteri which is like the Solid Red Cardinal Vine.

FYI: Here is a little information
Ipomoea sloteri 'Apricot Candy' is a *NEW* CULTIVAR from Texas

'Apricot Candy' is an interesting cultivar bearing deeply cut, Lanced Green Foliage and Gorgeous, Bright Apricot Blooms with a Vivid Yellow Center with slight Yellow dotting the edge of the blooms at the tips of each *Star* point. What sets 'Apricot Candy' apart from the ‘Regular’ Solid Red Ipomoea sloteri is the Unusual ‘Flower Color Dilution’.

Ipomoea sloteri, an interesting species, was first created by successfully hybridizing Ipomoea coccinea and Ipomoea quamoclit, thus creating the new species of Ipomoea x multifida which when it had become fully stabilized after several generations was given the updated binomial of Ipomoea sloteri = an allotetraploid derived from Ipomoea x multifida . . .
The new species shows a flower most like the Ipomoea coccinea, sepals most like Ipomoea quamoclit, but with a new leaf shape with divided foliage like the Ipomoea quamoclit, but with the overall heart shape of the Ipomoea coccinea.

It really is a neat bloom.
Glad you all like it!

I love Apricot Candy. Yours is very nice Emma. I have
transplanted mine into one of those coir pots. Hope I didn't mess up.
Only one seed left so I need to get this right pretty soon before I run out
of seeds. LOL

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Jackie,

Yes, the Apricot Candy can at times be very stubborn to germinate. Don't know why!
I just started a new batch last week and every seed germinated right away - go figure!

Hope yours gets going ok for you.

Morning Storm

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Your Morning Storm is nice bright blue in your photo. Here is what mine looked like a couple years ago when I grew it out: http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/beckygardener/7252/
Did you grow one of my seeds yet? I'm curious to see what colors you get from mine.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Becky,

My Morning Storm is from my 2006 Seeds. I did start seeds that you sent me and they are just barely starting to climb.
