I purchased some strawberry plants from Home Depot the other day. They came in a herb pot type thing. Lately I've noticed that some of the leaves (mostly the small shoots) are going brown and are dry. What could be the problem?
The soil seemed like it was moist enough but I added some water just to make sure. Hopefully this was the problem.
Strawberry leaves dry and dead
Anyone???
No the leaves and stems have gone limp I'm pretty they are dying. Anyone have any advise? I'm thinking of taking them out of the pot they are in and trying to transplant them into a different container. This sucks cause they looked perfect when I bought them.
Hard to tell w/o seeing them.
Crittenden, I do not know what exactly has caused your problem, but I do know that I purchased some "on sale" strawberry plants late last Spring from Wayside Gardens, and they performed just as you described. I ended up discarding the plants. I THINK they must have been somehow compromised in terms of water, though they didn't look this way at first. This year I purchased some strawberry plants early in the season, and they've been fine--I'm already harvesting some berries.
You could just try cutting the brown bits off and seeing how the rest of the plant goes?
