elephant bush plants-(similar to jade plants)

Surprise, AZ

am new, and a part timer to arizona. my question for the seasoned gardener:

my wife clipped a large potted elephant bush plant the other day, and I want to keep the clippings and plant them in another pot of soil; however, after contacting several nurseries, the 'experts' were not sure how to correctly propogate these cuttings. FYI, elephant bush plants are succulents, and almost resemble the jade plant, but their stalks are very small (pencil size in diameter) and their leaves, while almost resembling the jade plants, are rounder, and they seldom attain more than 25% of the jade plant leaves. The plant will grow approximately 8" tall, have many off shoot branches, then cascade downward, resting along side of the potted rim. thanks for your input!

Hows'it Dphiceman; if the plant looks like a jade plant (a Crassula, or succulent) treat it as a dryland plant. Start the cuttings and grow the plant in a humus rich, well drained soil (Cactus soil). Water it only when it looks dry.

Your plant is likely Portulacaria afra. Any photos to show?

Aloha, Dave
