I recently purchased some purple coneflowers. They were sold as bare root plants. I planted them along with glads, hollyhocks, and dahlias. This was about 6-8 weeks ago. My question is, it appears that everything has come up with nice foliage, except for the coneflower. I have read that the flower is a late bloomer, however shouldn't it have at least sprouted up? I guess it is possible that the roots were dried up when I planted them, (there were 8 of them). I am new to this so any suggestions would help. Thanks, Melissa
Help with Echinacea purpurea
Yes they should be growing.I have never seen them sold as bare root?I bought several plants many years ago.I saved seeds and increased my plants. It did take 3 years for them to flower. They are great plants, super hardy and bloom for along time. When the flowers go to seed its the attack of the yellow finches.I also enjoy that.Edge
