First time seeing this one bloom as well. I bought it in Spring 2007 and had to move it. Just now settled in and happy.

Flame Azalea, Rhododendron calendulaceum

Dyane - your Wm. Guiness photographs much better than mine! It's up against a stone wall, with its head nodding towards the wall. I suppose I should've moved the wheelbarrow and fence first!

I gotta get me one of those azaleas! It's drop-dead gorgeous!

Thanks Sue. I've been trying to get a decent shot of William Guiness for a few days now. When the sun is shining on it, it looks red in the photo and if it's too dark it gets lost in the background.
I just got the Azalea at a native plant sale. It wasn't in bloom but I figured that a plant with 'Flame' in its name would be striking and it is.

Here is a closeup...

They'll come back into bloom with the right conditions.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I gave them bone meal when I transplanted them and now I am feeding them every week hoping that since they are not very tall yet only about a foot that maybe its just the beginning of them starting to bloom the irises are all budded and they usually bloom first then the peonies, I found another one today planted in the middle of hostas in full shade I will move it tomorrow lol I am going to have the most amazing peonie bed when they all bloom

I don't think it's the same one Allison. The mystery one I got from you has a blue tongue.

Wisteria Amethyst Falls. This is an American variety rather than Chinese. It won't eat your house, swallow the car and make you wonder where your kids went. I've only had it for 2 or 3 years and it's blooming nicely. It was also gracious enough to make a few babies without my help. If anyone is interested in some babies, let me know.

A peony. Usually when the peonies bloom there is a major rain and wind storm landing the blooms in the mud. This bloom has been up for almost a week!
