2009 Blooms II

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Well thank you Neal for the nice words!!! - but I wish I were as neat as some of the other gardeners on here. The storm we had the other night really tore things up. But now it is all cleaned up and we're had some nice, sunny and not-too-hot days. I love your gersen in its woody setting as that makes a neat effect - in fact we all have such different styles it is cool to see them and admire/compare one another's.

Kim, I love pink Asiatics so love your unknown there :-)

I planted these "purple headed garlicks" from OHG this past fall into an existing lily bed; I had no idea when they'd bloom and they were only supposed to be a couple of feet tall but are closer to 3-4 feet each. They look kind of nice mong the lilies - I am hoping they return next year.

Steve- You have so much blooming, it looks stunning.

Thos garlics look really strange. Kinda like alien flowers from Outer Space.

I think I said another yellow was "Pisa" but after reviewing the pics, this one which opened today is the real "Pisa" I think - what, another yellow from me? LOL

Thanks Rita! Yeah, they do look strange - but they start off entirely green and from top to bottom start to turn purple, and eventually are supposed to end up being solid purple. I think they're cool ^_^

This is Asiatic "Gironde"

Oh Steve, your gardens are to die for!! You sure I can't borrow you or Dave? :) Everything is so beautiful!! I just love looking at your pictures. :)

Bright Brilliant. Interesting how different the form is from Long Island; you can really see the "Oriental" in Bright Brilliant as it is huge and much more outfacing/less trumpety; very strong fragrance. Holds up well in rain as well with thick waxy petals.

Oh Steve, so wonderful. I LOVE allium sphaerocephalon, the drumstick allium. Since my Silk Roads are shorter than yours, I use the drumstick to highlight the color. But your Silk Roads are a LOT taller than Mine!

And they reproduce prettty well.

I'm breathless to see your Silkroad! And those Baptisias!!! When do Baptisias bloom in your garden Donna? I planted severals this past year, but regcon they're still not mature enough to flower yet? They haven't so far this spring. Where as my 'Purple smoke' did.
