Both my asparagus and strawberries have recommendations for 10-10-10 fertilizer but I've been unable to find any -- even online. ?? Just wondering if there is an issue with this formula to NOT be so available. ???
My neighbor said that they just use 13-13-13 but just use less.
Any recommendations ??
Many thanks...
Jann
10-10-10 Fertilizer ??
Your neighbor is correct, but I am surprised as 10-10-10 is the most popular formulation around. Most feed and seed stores have it. Any fertilizer with a1-1-1 ratio of NPK will substitute. Composted cow manure has the same ratio just need to use 20 times as much.
Be careful with any concentrated fertilizer as it is easy to overdose your plants. The higher the concentration, the easier to overdose.
Thanks Farmerdill,
Do you have a particular 'brand' of fertilizer that I can google ?
I do use a concentrated formula so I hope I haven't OD'd anything. ugh.

Nope, I prefer to use a locally (regionally) made brand. Usually a bit cheaper due to shipping costs. Be careful of the big box stores this year. The major cost is Rock phosphate so many of them are selling 10-0-10 so they they can sell cheaper. That is ok if your soil tests high in phospahte, but that is definitely not the case here. I buy almost exclusively from Feed and Seeds. Every 3 years or so I will use one the more expensive mixes like Soil life or Rainbow, which also contains all the minor nutrients.

I'm using Fox Farm "Peace of Mind". It's organic slow release 5-5-5. Not sure what the end result will be but so far between the plants I have growing in a bed worked with composted manure and mulched and the plants in containers of coconut coir with the 5-5-5 mixed in the latter are doing much better. (This might be an indication of how poor my garden bed is rather than how magical the Fox Farm is, but at 5-5-5 it's a good balance and takes a lot to over do it)

Thanks Dorkasaurus... I found some of the "Peace of Mind" at our Smith & Hawkin store. It was on clearance which is good because Smith & Hawkin is what I call a 'gourmet garden store'.
