Susan,

I don't think you will find the Pinata rose this year, I haven't seen it in Calgary at all. In response to the time of year and planting roses, it is the best time of year to plant any potted rose. Often, in the spring, the new potted roses are no in sync with the ones in the local gardens - as in they are fully leaved out & often blooming....several weeks in advance to your garden. In the fall, they are more true to the season. You may not have instant gratification of blooms, but it will be awesome next year. So it just makes sense to buy them in the late summer/fall and take advantage of any sale prices.

Thanks Joanne - I'm def Not about instant gratification in my garden - I prefer to let them naturalize in, and they're better that way, I think.

I'll look for the Pinata rose next year. One of the GS's told me if I let them know, they'd order it in for next spring......... ^_^

Hi to ALL I haven't been on DG for a long time ...too busy enjoying my flowers out back. Joanna, sorry I had to miss the ru it looks like everyone had a great time. I would have liked to meet everyone. I was in Ontario soaking up some sun and HUMIDITY, visiting family, and lounging at a cottage in Muskoka.

All the plants you gave me Joanna did fantastic and I enjoyed watching them come into bloom. The yellow cone flower was especially prolific and the mglory was wonderful.

Here is a photo of my gardens first year

I'll have to get back here more often. Best wishes to all.
