Something's Laid Eggs on my Zucchini Leaf!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Any idea what it could be and what should I do to get rid of them, other than removing the leaf? Also, what's up with the yellow spots on the leaf? Should I be concerned?

looks like squash bugs, similar to stink bugs. bug files has pics of both bugs and eggs.

Well...off with the leaf!

stephanietx - are they on the top of the leaf or underneath? Squash bugs usually lay eggs on the underide of the leaf near a vein junction. The picture is a little shadowy, but to me it looks more like cabbage looper or hornworm poop. If you have little holes eaten out of the leaves, look for cabbage loopers - little (or not so little - depends on how much they've eaten) green inchworm looking caterpillars. If you find 'em squish 'em. If they are eggs, you can just scrape them off. It's usually not necessary to remove the entire leaf.

Kelly is right those are on the top of the leaf, my mistake.

They are on the top of the leaf and look like little black piles of something. I've cut the leaf off and will be looking for the villains.

These are ALL over on my flowers... petunias, potato vine flower, morning glory... will these bugs (lupper or hornworm) eat these as well??

Loopers will eat anything! I found one on my green beans this morning.

So, Steph,
What all do you have growing now? And what're your plans for sowing any more seeds any time soon?

Linda~Not sure much is "growing" except my bug population! LOL I've got straight yellow squash, zucchini (male flowers only..STILL!), okra, watermelon, maters, peas, beans (if they don't die), cucumbers, cantaloupe, red & yellow peppers, onions, and kale. The kale won't be harvested until next year, though.

I have some small pumpkin seeds to plant and then I'll get started on the tomatoes, cukes, and stuff for fall.

Is it too late for me to sow some seeds for okra, peas (Wando heat resistent), and purple hull cowpeas?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

You can probably go ahead and plant the okra and the purple hulls. I'd hold off on the peas.

Thanks, Steph!

Do you have a planting chart for your region?
