As far as shading is concerned, i understand to plant the taller plants behind the shorter ones, so they won't shade them too much...
What's going to throw more shade? A Jalepeno pepper plant, or an Eggplant? I am trying these 2 plants for the first time this year. I had a couple Bell pepper plants last year. Can I expect the same sort of plant with the jalapenos? I'm getting conflicting reports with Eggplant. I'm hearing they will grow like a pepper plant, and i'm also hearing they grow like squash.
I've started them from seed (also the first time this year). I bought Burpee seeds, it just says "Eggplant. Burpee Hybrid" on the package.
Any advice?
As far as shading...
I'm not going to swear there isn't a variety of eggplant that doesn't grow like a squash plant but I've never heard of or seen one. All the eggplants I've ever raised have a shape more like a pepper plant and they are about equal in height. Actually, the Jalapeno peppers I've raised were a little shorter than Bell pepper plants. I'd say it's a toss up on the shading issue and shouldn't matter which one is planted where.
