I planted a silver dollar eucalytpus about 4 years ago. The trunk is quite spindly and not straight. It is staked still and about 8' tall. Is there anything I can do, albeit a bit late, to change the growth pattern of this tree?
Silver dollar eucalyptus, spindly, crooked
Palotase,
You could try to stake it just like any other tree. I live in the panhandle of Florida and the tree I have is multi trunked and yes, it grows wonky! The trunk(s) on my tree have gotten thicker over the years and the bark is peeling. It was 20 inches tall when I planted It in the spring of '05, it is now approx. 15 feet tall.
Mine is in full sun and does occasionaly get some frost damage in the winter. Just let it do it's thing as I don't think of silver dollar eucalytpus as a formal addition to my landscape but a punch of interest.
