Black on the tips of my Oriental Poppy buds and blooms

This is the first blooming season for my oriental poppies. I am not an experienced gardener, and have noticed that just as the buds are beginning to open the tips are black (almost look rotten). As the flower opens, the tips are also black. What could have caused this to happen? Everything I read says how easy they are to grow and maintain!
