I've heard different opinions in terms of overnight temperature for when to plant your tomatoes outside for good. What's the "correct" answer for when you can plant them outside? I don't want to put them out too early and have them get too cold at night still since the temps are in the low-to-mid-40's sometimes here yet.
tomato temperature
I put mine out above 40 at night. Lower than that and some of them were damaged by frost. I covered them and they recovered though. If there's a chance of going below 40's be prepared to cover them in case your area actually frosts.
I wait for above 50, maybe 55. Sooner and they survive, but "stall" in their growth.
