I'm with you guys on the jeans and crocs! Unfortunately I can't say that I no longer wear nylons and dresses due to retirement though. I have tons of beautiful clothes from my college days many moons ago...still fit, but hang unused in the closet unless someone gets married or some other fancy occasion. Running an autobody shop does not lend to dressing nicely...and when I do get brave enough to wear something pretty, that is the day I end up hauling a greasy part and get it all over myself! Happiness is worn jeans and a big shirt!
Garden Pics: April shows brought these May flowers #5!!!
Willow……glad to hear the toe is getting better.
Bea…beautiful pics, especially the purple iris and those yellow tulips.
Julie….wasn’t that sale at Fredie’s fun? I know I bought a bunch. How do the slugs find new plants so quickly? That is a beautiful poppy.
Trisha…that’s stunning!
Clematis from Mom's.
Sally... Great Pics! I love your mom's garden buddy. He seems as if he's very quite but sincere! I sure wish that I had known about this sale at Freddy's.
Trisha.... great find at the coffee stand! very pretty
RJ.... beautiful PIcs! Especially the one without the slug. The mountain is beautiful today. I'm glad that you found the trees. Sorry about the expense though, it must not have been a successful year for propogating them. If it's any consolation..... mine were sticks when I bought them. They all were since it's the nature of the tree to not branch at the bottom. So, I chose between 20 of these "sticks" with a lovely pink round of leaves at the top. the first year they grew just about 6". the next year one grew 4' and the other hardly grew. But, the next year one grew 4' and the other (the short one) put on almost 7'!!! It was amazing. Anyhow, where I was going with all that.... once established, they really grow fast!! So hopefully it would grow into it's cost for you. If I have time on Tues. I'll stop by there and take a picture of Greers' stock. Tues. is pretty packed, but it just might work.
Bea.... Great pics! I love the noid iris and ranunculus. I've never seen a ranunculus that color!! Sorry, I'dont feel bad that you don't fit the size 4 anymore!! I don't think that I was, at any point in my life, a size 4! lol
Portland... are you feeling any better now? I sure hope so.
Same for you toe/foot Willow.... I sure hope that it's feeling better soon.
WOW!! There is a lot going on.
I'll probably miss something, but here goes.
Hope toe feels better, Willow.
Judi, glad you are feeling a little better.
Clothes from teaching years sitting untouched, but can't seem to sort through. Also, I passed right by size 4 I think when I was in the sixth grade. LOL
Great coffee break.
Yikes on the slug. The biggest I've seen here is thumbnail size.
The grandkids love our 'Mr. Tree' too. They talk to him.
Hey RC, did you see the Plant ID request that outtamygourd posted? You are our resident tree expert - what do you think?
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/989681/
wow, thanks for the compliment that I definitely don't deserve! However, you're going to have me racking my brain all day now because I recognize it....... But just can't place it. I can even describe it. It's can be a single or multitrunked tree. Has small spines up the stalk that go away as it gets older, and it suckers well once established. For some reason the names: sorbus, sorbaria, sanguisorbia, something like that.... keep going over and over in my head. But, that probably has nothing to do with it. lol

Katie..... maybe this??? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/162969/
You know that's interesting. She/we thought it might be a mountain ash of some sort . . .
And isn't it interesting that Mountain Ash is in the Sorbus family?

Bea.... I really like melvin. He's looks so peaceful and serene there! Yep it's going to be a blue poppy (meconopsis). I just love them!
Katie.... I think that idea has a lot of potential, if those leaves get any larger.... i'd say it's an excellent bet.
Yeah, that it is interesting. A broad and confusing family of trees/shrubs if you ask me.
I have two that survived the winter. I sure hope they bloom this year. They are so nice! Hope you can post a picture when they bloom!
I have a couple of your regular old run-of-the-mill Mountain Ashes - they are really nice trees.
Trisha, That bloom is absolutely beautiful!
Sally, Lovely Clem, and I adore the tree guy! My Mom has a couple of those, but I haven't found just the "right" one for my garden yet.
Redchic, Nice poppy pics, can't wait to see the bloom! If I would have been thinking about it, I would have posted about the sale at Freddies, becaues as Sally said, they had some fantastic deals. I didn't go myself as I have a very strong aversion to "weekend only" sales at stores like that (somehow I missed getting the "shopping" gene, and the crowds drive me batty). I had been there the week before and had seen their flats, so when my personal shopper (Mom) offered to pick me up some on her way to work on Friday, I couldn't say no.
Bea, Melvin looks like he is enjoying the nice weather!
Didn't want to start a new thread so figured I would toss this in here. If anyone has an interest in what I do for a living that pays for all of the lovely plants, I invite you to see my "fifteen minutes of fame"....OK, well, not really, as it is only an industry publication so not many people see it, but still kind of cool to see your name in print. Has info on our family business and pictures of my "boys" who have all been with me for years.

Julie..sounds like a great business to be in. Could have used your service on 3/1 when my daughters car was hit by a drunk driver.(and hit & run) The car was parked. Car totaled! It even looked worse in person. Very sad as the Yaris was only 18 months old. Had rear end damage also from being pushed into another car and the frame was all out of whack that the doors would not open. I am grateful that my daughter was not in the car when this happened. She was having a nice sunday dinner & movie with her BF until they heard the crash! :(
Thanks, it was neat to see your operation. I must have driven past it a few times when I lived out there.
My new bed with all orange and yellow. Marigolds, snapdragons, dalhias, and zinnias.
I finished planting it today. No room for the gerbers so they will go in a planter.
I have a bunch more but will be kind and wait until tomorrow to post them. Wore my crocs and the toe didn't bother me at all.^_^

RJ.... I feel the same way about those sales that draw a lot of crowds! So, I get in and out as quickly as possible, and usually at an odd time.
Willow, your yard is just beautiful. I love it all. great pictures too!!
