Garden Pics: April shows brought these May flowers #5!!!

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

That last one and this one are the same bush but I put my hand by it so you could see the size of this blossom.

A baby lewisia that I thought was just anothe sedum. Surprise. Can't remember where it came from either.

I only have two types of Coral bells. A varigated and the basic one. I love them but so do the deer.

This is a barrel I have out by the garage doors. It has varigated vinca, chives, ivy, and mint in it and is green all the time.

And the purple row of rhodies are beginning to show.

Willow.... fantastic pics.... all of them. I really like that variegated heuchera. I've been thinking that I need one for a long time now.

Portland... that's a lovely purple rhody!

Thanks RJ.... I agree completely about Lem's Cameo. It's one of my favorite tried and true rhodies. There's several "cousins" of the blue butterfly. There's a fenders blue, karner blue, and a few others that look very similar.

Sure are some beautiful pictures today. RJ..the Exbury is scrumptious and so feminine! Judi..I love your purple one too! and Willow.. your yellow monach is georgeous! An orange lewisia..oh my. Must keep an eye open for that one! Beautiful bloom!

My bearded Iris are just great today. Cloudy weather sure helps photographing them.
Of course..no name tags to be found but enjoy the pic's

This one is leaning towards the sidewalk so the background on this shot is not the best, but the bloom is fantastic.

This one is fantastic. The bottom half is a periwinkle blue and the top a soft baby blue. The bud in the front is a deep royal blue. If I would name this I would call it Heavenly Blue!

This one is a coppery color.

Been waiting for this one to bloom as the bud was so interesting. Ta..da..It is beautiful!
A tangerine color I would say.

Beautiful Iris Bea. The dark red is very striking!

I found another one of the butterfly as I went through more pics of yesterday.

Well, I'm behind again, but I'm enjoying everyone's beautiful pictures. Three days, and I lost track! Whew!

Those Toona trees are fascinating, but I think I'll be enjoying everone else's. I don't think my little yard can handle another potentially 50ft tree.

Bea, love your irises. I'm really liking the "unusual" colored ones this year. I saw the prettiest soft apricot one yesterday-it was a lot like your second one, but it had a very prominent orange beard. I never would have thought I'd like the apricot-y ones.

WW, your rhody's are so pretty-you've got a really nice selection of them.

Judi, I've got a purple rhody about that exact same color. It's one of my favorites. Are the blooms of yours slightly doubled? If so, I'll bet we have the same one-wish I knew what it was! I'll try to get a picture of mine to post here too.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Susybell, glad to have you back! Those trees can be easily kept to about 20'. The one that I've taken pictures of that's not in my yard is, so I'm told, about 25 yrs. old, has never been pruned, and is only about 25-30' tall. Was the description that you read for the plain green one? I've read that the pink one is not supposed to be as tall. I'm still going to keep mine to no more than 25. no matter what those books say! lol

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

susybell.... if your rhody looks like Portlands' rhody.... is this your rhody? http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=rhododendron%20fastuosum%20flore%20pleno&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi I can't quite tell from that picture, but the bloom do look as though they might be semi double. Rhody 'fastuosum flore pleno.' say that 5 times fast. lol

this one and the next are both of my favorite Deciduous Azalea 'Cannons Double'. Hopefully I'll get a picture of the whole plant the next sunny day that I get to be out in the yard.

OK..I am green with envy over those butterfly shots. I am still working on my insect pictures and can either get the bug or the flower but not both. Tomorrow I'll show you the bee I got outside of Olive Garden. My friends just roll their eyes when they give us a beeper thing and I know I have time. I see something on a flower and grab the camera out of the car. Next thing you know everyone is getting seated and Ginger is outside playing in the bushes with the camera talking to bugs.....

To me, that sounds like that best time out with friends Ginger! Food can wait. Bugs generally don't! I'm looking forward to your pictures!

LOL.. and you know exactly which Olive Garden Sally.....Valley River Center

There is something purple there right now that attracts bees.....Very cool flower. Last week it was Azaleas....

I love it there. Ok. That's not fair Ginger.... you're making me hungry! lol

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

I was following around this bumble bee on the Lupin. Took about 20 pic's of this guy and only a few were some what focused on the little creature. His legs were loaded down with pollen after hard days work,
Love Bumbles!

Such incredible pictures and Flowers everyone.....I know what you mean about the pollen covered bee.....I kept trying to get a pic of one a few days ago with no success, he was entirely yellow he had so much pollen all over his entire body!

I really, really want some of these tulips .... mom and I saw these on our way to pick up her friend last night and I grabbed this shot out of the car window......
