Becky's MGs Part 3

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Colin ... this photo is just for YOU!

Look!!! It's Ferris Bueller's Day Off ... nope it's Duckie's Day at the Pool! LOL!

They had a blast swimming around! They are just way too adorable. I can't even tell you how tempting it is to want to keep a couple of them... My dh would absolutely KILL ME!!! We don't need anymore pets! ACK!!!!

I got so excited about these ducklings that I forgot to post the photo! LOL LOL LOL

Colin - Here is a close-up just for you! Can you hear them making their cute little quacking sounds? They actually chirp/cheep right now. I guess they haven't developed that deep adult duck voice yet! :-) I wonder what kind of ducks these are? Maybe I need to post this to the bird ID forum. I am curious to know what they will look like as adult ducks... We will be sending them off to the farm this week coming up... Boo hoo ... ;'-(

way too cute Becky... i'm all over the place :-)

they look like mallards to me but don't know if you get them there... i believe Florida has Black Ducks? ...

... i've just done a google and of course you have lots and lots and lots of species where you live Becky... :-))

i cannot get the Spanish flags to start for the life of me. Finally got Cardinal Climbers for some red, hope they can take the Heat~I wonder why the Kohkan Seedling / plants are staying so dwarflike? The leaves are healthiy but they are keeping low. Maybe go them mixed up with a mounding MG. HMPH.

Becky I love your flowers but the babies steal the show!! LOL

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Darren - When I grow Spanish Flag, they are always the last to sprout. Or possibly you planted the seeds too deep. I've had that problem, too. :-(

When my soil is compacted, it makes my vine leaves so much smaller. I am having that problem right now along the picket fence. I did not amend that bed before planting seeds, so all my vines look dwarf-like too. Blooms are normal size for most of them though... :-)

Colin and Ronnie - I knew y'all would get a kick out of those baby duckies! :-) They are even cuter in real life! I gotta pack em up and take them back to school with me tomorrow. (sigh) And they will be on their way to the farm this week. I believe they are Mallard Ducks. I started a thread on the Bird ID Forum asking for an ID: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/989408/ Though one person has replied saying they are not. So who knows ...

Wonderful blooms Becky. Love the baby ducks.

Awww, look at those little ducks - too cute. And they do steal the show. I'd be tempted to keep a couple too Becky. LOL.

More photos taken over the past couple of days before the rains pulverized my blooms.

This is a new first bloom of Keiryu from Eliz (evr). The foliage is a light green and the blue is a bit lighter. I've grown this vine before and it is truly a favorite of mine.

I. aquatica seems to love where it is growing. I see new leaves sprouting from these plants every day. I wonder how long it will take before I see some blooms?

I have 2 volunteers from last season that sprouted recently. This one is Ipomoea hederacea var. integriuscula. A teeny-tiny vine...

Another volunteer. Looks like it might be Shibori Purple x Gray Lady cross that I grew back in the Fall. But it looks a bit different. More white. Possibly crossed again. It is growing right next to one of my Clematis vines.

Pink flaked I. purpurea (Carnevale di Venezia) from Sylvia. Boy! This vine is in the toss up between this pink flaked and the purple flaked (that I grew last Fall). I can't decide which one I like the best! I think I need to grow them both out again, but at the same time. I would love to try to cross them to see what I might get! :-)

The other sweet potatoe vine. I need to grow a blackie now. I just love the color of these leaves. It's an eye-catcher! This grows so fast, too! I hope to get some blooms soon...

Red Flare Caladiums.

Thumbnail by beckygardener

I am trying Caladiums for the first time this year as my Freesia are slowing down and lilies are nowhere to be seen i think Bugs, (Slugs??) got them, but wanna wait to dig them up til I KNOW they wont grow. I thought slugs were topfeeders only?

Really nice, even with the rain torment, Becky..
I took a pic or two of a g/fs' clematis collection.. would post them for you, but want permission first..
