Becky, all your photos are gorgeous, as usual.
The 'Diluted Fuji no Murasaki' takes my breath away!
(If I knew anything about computers I'd make it my screensaver!)
Becky's MGs Part 3
Becky,
Is the diluted Fuji No Murasaki pictured above from the seeds from me, or different seeds? If it's them, I had wondered what they were.
Sarah
Hi Becky,
I just love all your "stripy" MGs - "Pink Porcelain", "Arlene's Hanafubuki", "Antoinette's Plum Tie-dye" and your "NOID Lady Yaguruma Kaleidoscope cross".
I have some "Carnevale di Venezia" seeds, and I', thinking of starting one or two indoors. Yours are absolutely stunning! Only thing is, I think I'll have to carry them outside each day in order to get enough sunlight. Maybe it will be better to wait till Spring...
I am green with MG-envy. LOL!!
Elsa
Ron - Pink Porcelain is one of mine. It was originally a solid pastel pink from 2 years ago. Somehow it has become a Blizzard...
The Carnevale di Venezia seems to have a lot more "white" blooms than striped blooms. Which is why I personally prefer to call it by the commercial name instead of Pink Flaked. I have seen the Pink Flaked and they have more stripes and color than these vine blooms.
BA - Thanks! Glad you are enjoying my photos!
Sarah - The diluted Fuji No Murasaki is one of your seeds. I just love it!!! :-) It is really outstanding and very unusual. If you need some seeds back, dmail me. I am trying to hand-pollinate all of the blooms to keep getting this beauty! The blooms have been quite consistent as far as the diluted features.
Elsa - My Pink Flaked are in full sun for at least half of the day. I had another flush of blooms this morning and was out there like a mad-lady trying to pollinate all of them! LOL! I probably don't need to worry about because they tend to produce 4-6 seeds per pod! LOL! I'll probably be sorry I am hand-pollinating so many.
Becky - You can call your plants whatever you want to , but something is happening that I've been trying to prevent...and that is that the Pink Flaked that you are getting out of the Carnival mix are now being designated as 'some type of particular special type of different pink flaked'...and I think that is an error that's best to prevent but I can only advise...
Whatever variations in the degree of white to pink ratio is simply the variations of pink flaked...they are most definitely not limited to this carnival mix... a wider sampling of flaked types from different sources will eventually confirm what I am trying to convey...but I guess it will take some time...and some possible diversions...(advertising specialists don't make money for nothing , they do their best to come up with names that people will fall in love with (!) and truly want to believe is really different or otherwise new and improved).
The same exact type of thing happened a few years ago when someone claimed that they were getting 'special' types of Ipomoea tricolor 'Flying Saucers" out of a catchy merchandising named product..it took awhile for me to show that they were simply historical variations of Flying Saucers...and there was no justification for a new name...
Flaked Ipomoea purpurea have a wide range of variations and although what you are currently getting , that may have come out of the carnival mix may seem like a different type of flaked, as per the much larger picture , they really aren't...they are just variations of flaked...
I need to state this for the historical record...
Enjoy the Colors (!)...
TTY,...
Ron
Becky,
I thought it might be from the MG vine you posted on the other thread. I'd love to have seeds! I'm so glad it has turned out so true! When it showed up in my garden, I thought it was odd looking. The other folks on the MG forum are the reason it's still going. The people on the MG Forum all helped in advising me to harvest seeds. EmmaGrace was especially kind in answering my D-mails for advice. Speaking of names for the MG's I will be interested to see what it will be named, once it is stabilized.
Becky, I had to show my DH your pictures I hope you don't mind.. They are just awsome...just like their grower..
Sarah - Thanks for keeping the diluted FNM going by sharing seeds from your amazing vine! I will return the favor to you! :-)
Debra - Cool! My dh took a walkabout with me this morning. He was just amazed at the colors and patterns on the MGs. I think he is starting to "get" why I love MGs! :-)
Here are some from today. This one I believe is one of Gail's Shibori Mix seeds! This deep rich blue is outstanding! You can see it from across the yard. It just grabs your eyes and holds onto them for your full attention!
This photo is NOT of a plant. I am babysitting (rather duck sitting) for the hatchlings from the incubated eggs in my class and another class at school. We got a baker's dozen! Usually not all the eggs make it, but this year they ALL did! Aren't they cute?

aww those babies are so cute.. reminds me of when I lived on the farm and we raised ducks, geese, chickens and rabbits.. spring was always so much fun with the babies... by the way.. I love your "porcelain pink" .. save me a seed would ya?
Debra - Lucky YOU! Living on a farm sounds like a dream! :-)
I will save you seeds if this vine produces seeds. Please dmail me your request as I won't remember otherwise. Short memory in my old age. LOL!
will do.. this photo here is a real keeper: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6555131
.. I wish I could have him here.. I have often thought of getting some ducks for the dog run, since right now it is being used as a plant nursery... Duke, my 14 yr old beagle never stays in there unless he is forced to ..
I just love all your gorgeous, beautiful, awesome blooms Becky!!
Here are this mornings blooms! And I just gotta say ... WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY it is here in Sebastian, FL!!! Today is my youngest child's birthday! She is 18 years old! My middle child graduated from the community college yesterday (though he chose not to walk, but instead will just pick up his AS degree paperwork). His GPA was 3.4 (I believe), but he is so tired of school that he didn't even care. Of course, if there were jobs now in his major, then he'd be more excited... And my oldest and his new wife are in Italy for a honeymoon. My dh is working and I am babysitting the ducks and having a blast with them! Oh my gosh! Are they ever cute...
Here is Pink Porcelain Blizzard with some spots showing. :-) :-) :-)
that diluted Fuji No Murasaki is still catching my eye Becky.... just wonderful...
your Pink Porcelain Blizzard look way cool too... but the best of the latest are the ducklings.... sorry :-))
