I think this is Iris Immortality. Thanks Allison!
Garden Photos of '09.... #19
Dyane I hope you are right. Look at the underneath part of the style arms (in the middle of the flower) & see if the yellow glow is there. It may help with the ID.
Great.
Mine too Dnut! :)
Nice shots, Weeze! Your clems are ahead of mine - no fair!
No, It's fair Victor. You have so much stuff ahead of mine, one would think our zones are reversed^_^
She likes to spread the knowledge, Dyane. I ask her questions all the time.
Thanks, jumper.
Yes it was underneath the style arms in the alcazar picture. See if Argyle Acres has that one--you need to compare it with yours.
Nice Louise, I love the canine nigra orangestickitus.
Thanks Robin!
Great pictures everyone!
Louise...i love all of your pictures, but the canine nigra orangestickitus is great. Especially for being for the trilimbs variety! The sand would be a heck of a workout!
Beautiful every one.
My Mischels order arrived and I have work to do organizing planters and plants.
I doubt I'll do anything on this scale next year.12 planters 18"
12 planters 11" each one different.
I just couldnt stop duering the Rosydawn co-op

That sounds like as good of a reason as any for piling work on yourself!
So, I know that I've shown off a pink tree (toona tree!) in some of my more recent pictures. That tree is what inspired me to get two of my own. These pics are of my two Toona Trees!
I thought about encouraging these two to be a little bushier on the bottom, but then I decided not to since they were so close to the house. In Hindsight.... i should've pruned them.
The bed is under construction since a center piece plant died and I took the oppotunity to rework the bed. So it's a mess and there's tons of weeds!

love that blue
thanks! I think that it's the second best true blue one that there is (even though there's a tiny bit of purple in it).. Which makes it one the tops of my list.

whats first?
Meconopsis!!!! http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&um=1&sa=1&q=meconopsis+betonicifolia&aq=0&oq=meconopsis+be (i'm sure that you've seen them before, but just in case...)
maybe not.... or just don't remember that one... very nice
you really must see one in person to see a True sky blue flower! They're so pretty. But, also quite a bit more difficult to grow than delphiniums. So.... maybe delphs should be at the top of my list...... nah!!!

I love my delph.... until it comes time to stake them
I got two of these germinated... hope they are better since they are shorter

Wish I had luck with Delfs,
TBI's too guess we have to make harde choices sometimes.
Nice shots, everyone!
I am glad to hear that you have safely returned to your northern haven, Louise!
Loving the light blue clem! Also the tree peony ... nice job helping it survive! And the Delph is great, Shelly.
I have seen those blue Himalayan poppies! They are awesome. I was lucky enough to receive some seeds from Carol's collection in Alaska, which I have planted. I am hoping there will be some of those poppy seeds in the (literally) 1,000s of seeds in the baggie. Wouldn't that be great?
I'm having trouble getting caught up again. laptop died :( it's just a black screen with a blinking cursor now; it has a pretty cover...maybe I can press flowers with it?? so I'm using DH's again.
so everything is beautiful, guys. I'm a little behind most of you here in WNY. I'm probably even a little behind Willie. I'm further north and have a very exposed back yard. But there are actual buds on a few roses...all they need is some nice warm days and sun. My tall alliums have buds. The weigelas (I have 4 kinds) have a ways to go yet.
Welcome back, Louise!
I think the difference is:
Meconopsis betonicifolia
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1952/
Perennial
Papaver Somniferum
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/b/Papaveraceae/Papaver/somniferum/cultivar/0/
annual
Odd that Dave's Garden doesn't have an entry for the Persian Blue Poppy, but you can buy the annual seeds by searching Google Shopping.
I love that blue as well, Shelly.
Be interested to see how blue those Persian Blues are. The pictures that show up in google are more of a purply-pinkish-red. Kind of a light grape color?
