The dwarf irises Will has are Standard Dwarf Bearded. The only ones with 'nana' to help ID the species which I know about are I. setosa which is a species. Species & hybridized garden plants are differen, the latter just has the name of the clone. I hope they are enjoyed.
Garden Photos of '09.... #19
I found a dwarf iris volunteer. I'll have to post a pic so you can ID it, Iris.
Wonderful photos, folks---Dyane---those azaleas are super! Allison---that's not 'Southern Charm'---it's verbascum phoeniceum hybrid, which comes in rose, purple & white---I have a few that survived this winter. 'Southern Charm' is tall, & the blooms are pink & yellow. Not sure if that's PI----use gloves to yank!
Thanks, Iris! I think the person I got them from might have been a little confused. Standard dwarf Iris sounds right from what I saw in searching.
Go Coleus! That is a LOT of coleus!
I like that Iris Blatant, Victor! Is that ALL you have waiting??
Looking good over by Allison's, too, eh?
I am now thinking the cactus might be a Gymnocalycium.
Thanks Patti. Very nice shots. Love the iris. Which euphorbia is that??
Dyane, your azaleas are amazing. I want more of them myself. Have a white one in back, Girard's White, but the deer devastated it the last 2 winters. I originally had it in front, and I should have kept it there. I think I will move it back in front this year. That 'Ogon' Spirea is very pretty, too. I have a Dawn Redwood by that name (Victor does, too), and I just bought some ground cover sedum that also has that name.
Wonderful cactus flower, Willie! I just love cacti. I lived in Arizona for 4 years and loved the diverse assortment of cacti that grew there. I used the hike all over there. I miss it.
Nice plants you have from last year, Victor. Get planting!!! That shot of Heuchera 'Miracle' is great!
Allison, your variegated plant looks like Buddleia 'Santana'. I just bought one a couple weeks ago.
That doesn't look like Virginia creeper to me, Victor. It only has 3 leaves, and VC has 5.
Karen
Here is Hosta 'Sagae'
Karen - young VC can have just three leaves. They add the other two as they mature. Actually, Allison's plant has more than three leaves anyway. You can see that in two of the clusters. The thing that points away from VC, however, is that long space between the three leaves at the tip and the next ones.
Victor you were right about the columbine... thank you... love the star!... I was so afraid to pull that weed.. wasn't sure... thanks
the variegated one is Blue Mist Spiraea... had to check my journal ... I did buy a Santana from fairweather when we were there.. not too far away from the spiarea
