I have been hearing new bird songs the last few days. One was the Pee Wee...there was no mistaking that one. Another I couldn't ID until today. I was checking out the grosbeaks songs and then I listened to the Scarlet Tanager. That is what I have been hearing the last 2 days!!!!! NOW...if I could just find it and get a photo.......LOL

DAILY PICS VOL. 214.
Nanny, I can certainly sympathize with you. I have been hearing the Western tanager since the weekend but have yet to spot one. They are here for the summer, but tend to hang out in the high treetops. The black headed grosbeaks are back also, but are stiil very shy, so I haven't been able to get a pic that I think is worth sharing. That should change as time progresses, however.
Excellent shots everyone!! I'm still trying to catch up. Congratulations on everyones new birds!
Very nice ones Jay!
Thanks Nanny! I have some places close by I can go walk. Raven Rock state park is good and it's about 20 miles from my house. Jordan Lake is another and it's about ten miles from me. I'll be taking the boat up there this summer and hope to see the Eagles and other birds. Plus they have trails as well. My biggest problem is finding the time to go. *sigh* The bluebird pics are from my work and that's 45 miles from my house...
Nice pics dirt and nanny!
Rutholive, did you notice the orange I put out this morning so see if I could entice my Western tanagers closer? Just have to get a picture of one soon!
I make it 16 . . . not too many.
The school sports field in front of my house has over 160 Wood Pigeons grazing on it every evening recently - I'm glad they're finding their own food!
Resin
Resin, I am not familiar with a Wood Pigeon. Is that a bird that we have here as well? Might it be the same as our Rock Dove (domestic pigeon)?

You don't have them in N America. Fairly similar to your Band-tailed Pigeon in size, just slightly larger, and quite a bit larger than Rock Dove. One of the commonest birds around here, the population has increased a lot in recent years. Here's a pic:

the reason that they use the trees around this pond as their rookery.
I have a few other picture but they are not as good.
Saw the following birds nesting
Wood Stork
Great Egret
Snow Egret
Little blue heron
Tri colored heron
Cattle egret
Roseate Spoonbill
They list more but I did not see them. There was new nest, nest with eggs and young birds up to almost ready to fly
Wow nice pics Wren!! Nice to see them w/ their eggs!
Handsome pigeon Resin!
Wood pigeon is the only British bird call I can ID. Hard not to be able to use my ears there.
