aloe plant with issue

My aloe plant is in a 6 inch pot and the bottom stems aren't getting much aloe in them , dont know what is up with that ! they seem to be droopy all the time ! meanwhile the top ones are always full! I meanwhile have some small ones coming in from the roots , which was curved! should i cut the bottom off or what ?

Can you post a picture? The droopiness could be from too much or too little water, but since aloes are succulents, too much water is much more likely. Or there could be something else going on, hard to say without a picture.

Sounds like too much water to me too. I'd carefully clip the sad looking pieces off the bottom of the plant and allow it to dry out.

It sounds like over watering to me. I also have a floppy aloe vera. I'm trying to be good and leave it to dry out properly between waterings, however my mam comes in see's the plants looking a tiny bit dry and waters them all again *angry*. Hence my vera is floppy.

LOL dipsydoodle--maybe you need a sign for your aloe like the ones in zoos--"Please Don't Feed the Animals, " except yours needs to say, "Please Don't Water the Aloe."

I have some aloe in the stems , so don't want to really break off some of the bottom stems . I have two babies growing and was wondering if that could be taking the energy out of the bottom ones !

I've never had babies have any ill effect on the mother plant. My best guess is still too much water. I think if you back off on the watering, the plant will be fine.

@ Naturelover1950 - I need one of those signs on ALL of my plants. She'll come in and say "oh they are dry" or "I watered them when you were out" ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - I purposely leave them to get dry a bit between waterings - that isn't acceptable GRR!

ROFL--sometimes moms just get a little too helpful. I'm sure they mean well. My daughter and son are lucky I guess--I raised them both to be independent and I stay out of their business. The benefit there is they are willing to come visit me often :-}

I broke up with a boyfriend years ago and when I told her I got "what did you do?" - I never bothered to tell her the truth cos she wouldn't have believed me anyway (he cheated on me).

I've always told my daughter and son that their relationships should be strictly between them and their significant other. I raised them to be independent so what they do now that they're grown is not my business or anyone elses. They understand that if they are having a real serious problem, they can talk to me and I will do my best to offer advice but if they choose not to take it, my feelings aren't hurt. You're right--most things about your life Mom doesn't need to know :-} Glad you chose to get rid of the cheating bum--those kinds aren't worth the time of day.

Wish I could help you dipsy but you know what's always been said is so true--you're not going to change your mam at her age now. My own mom was bad about asking things I didn't want her to know. I eventually learned how to joke with her while avoiding giving a direct answer. Joking defused the tension and helped her to understand that I didn't want to divulge that information to her. Relationships are complex aren't they?

My aloe hasn't been watered for 4 day now , how is my thread turning into a relationship thing , anyway haven't been feeding the aloe so to speak !

Give your aloe a few weeks and it should perk up.
