Pic of a fledgling Chickadee and an Indigo Bunting. Yesterday Mama Chickadee showed up with a baby. It would sit around the feeder begging and she would feed it. This morning, both parents showed up with 3 young. They are learning quick, already getting on the feeder.

Nice pictures, Methodical. There sure are a lot of types of Warblers. Here is a quick pic I got of a Crow flying over with something in his beak.

Beautiful shots everyone...love the bird pics with the blooming flowers, they are just gorgeous! Met that Warbler is a beauty and would love to see one! Mrs. Ed...you will have the cleanest birds in town...love that cute shot!

Here is a first and uncommon in our area...a male Yellow-headed Blackbird. My neighbor called me late today to let me know they were in her barn lot. After being in mud and manure up to my knees, licked to death by the bull calves and electrocuted several times when my tripod got too close to the fence I was able to get this shot!! LOL!!

That's funny Dellrose, especially being licked to death by the baby calves. Nice shot. Like the Flicker...one day I'll get lucky and get a good shot like that.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Dellrose, That shot is well worth the effort. LOL I didn't even know that there were yellow headed blackbirds. Thanks.
Luvs, your Rose-breasted Grosbeak, we had one here years ago and I really scrambled to ID it. Haven't seen one since.
Pell, The Pileated is really something to see. They are pretty large and watching them move from tree to tree in the hedge row is fun. I don't think they fully open their wings, kind of like waving your arms with them bent at the elbow. LOL
Mrs_Ed, Your bathing shots are so cute.
Here is a little unintential bathing shot. When I first went out to fill the feeders I saw this little guy sitting down in the pond on the root-ball with the frogs. Looked like he fell in, sitting there all wet and tired looking. I ran for the camera and when I came back he was up on the ledge. Still looking a bit rough. Didn't even move when I laid some seed at his feet. Then in just a few minutes before I even finished filling the feeders he was up at the thistle sock. Poor thing had a rough morning.

Toad party at Holly's house. (I assume you saw the Toads umm making friends in the lower right hand corner)? Cute wet Pine Siskin too. Pine Siskins are a Northern species of finch, and aren't as used to human interference as our southern birds. If you continue to see these guys in a month or so, let us know. People are studying where they are nesting in PA this year.

jec6, Thanks I didn't know it was a Pine Siskins, just that it was a finch. I will keep an eye out for them. When I first saw the bird it was down in the pond sitting on that root ball right next to the frogs. Those frogs have been at it day and night for weeks. This song comes to mind everytime I go out there. "Dancing in the street, with a disco beat, all night long, bump, bump" LOL

LOL Holly! Nice pics guys!

Holly...I took a bucket of those toads to school for show and tell (we called it sharing in those days), my 2nd grade teacher was young and new. She took one look in that bucket and quickly fainted!! LOL...your pic sure brought back a weird memory!!

We are also on the lookout in our area for signs of nesting Pine Siskins...I have had several of them for the past week at the feeders.

Evie,

Back to your HOSP inquiry, I watched several HOSP fighting last night in a tall tree. At first, I thought it was normal bickering, but they stayed in the same area. I got the binos, one male was hanging upside down with two other bickering above (at least one was a female HOSP). It looked like they had been attacking the upside down male, he was holding a wing funny. I watched the two birds flush leaving him hanging upside down. He tried to fly off and got no where. It looked like he was tethered to the tree, he would start to fly, not go anywhere and give up, leaving him hanging upside down. While watching closely, I could see nothing tethering him to the tree and could see him holding on with his feet. He did this for about a minute, then just flew off. The top bird in the picture looks like a female HOSP to me. I think it is just HOSP on HOSP violence, he probably bothered a nesting pair. The picture reminded me about what I saw. Two company, three a crowd.
