I'll say. What a great bird.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

OMG that Black-throated blue winged warbler is GORGEOUS!!! Those are my fav colors, and on a bird - awesome!

I just realized carol13's bird may be a white throated sparrow. Mine are all white stripes on the head with the yellow near the beak on the sides.

This one was bathing in the stream. What do you think it is - female brown-headed cowbird?

I just read this blog post and had to share. Check out the bottom two pictures, here's the text

"Then I heard what sounded like two birds fighting when I located the birds I couldn't believe my eyes in a thicket was a bird holding onto a House Sparrow by the back of the head, the helpless bird just hung there phishing. This ended when a truck passed and the birds flushed. I did get these two images but have no idea what the top bird was."

Nice photos, everyone.

Holly, one of my favorites, i.e. Pileated Woodpecker. It looks like he may be back. I think he found a good place to peck away.

Met, as others have commented, I sure like your Black-throated Blue Warbler.

Clinton, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks. I had never seen nor heard of the Black-throated blue winged warbler. Lith I got the picture at Monticello Park in Alexandria VA. Have you ever been there. If not you should visit. It's amazing. I also got some shots of the Swamp Sparrow, Wood and Water thrush, Common yellow throat, Yellow rump, Oven bird and the Catbird there but it was a heavy overcast so not as detailed as I'd like though. These birds just drop down to the water to take a bath. The birders there tell me there are plenty of other species of warblers there. I will be going back there hopefully this weekend if it clears up. I also spotted a hummingbird when it started to rain but could not get a shot.

Pelletory I will post a picture of the Black-throat in the bird files...hopefully I can get some better shots this weekend if it clears up here.

Rockminer, great hummers! I usually have that many here, but so far only about 8. I usually have 20-30. Guess they're enjoying your sugar water too much!

My Calif. Towhees were really chasing each other yesterday and landed about my Clematis blooms.
