PLEASE! WE NEED YOUR INPUT FOR ROUNDUP PLANNING!!! HELP!!!

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

An FYI for use of pots:

The larger pots are great for plunging into the ground. During the Fall/Winter, I have filled them with mulch, so they don't pose a danger to my dogs stepping in them (or me).
In late Winter or early Spring, I place other pots inside them - usually Spring bulbs. This way I can change out anything potted when it starts to decline.
The other thing to fill them with is rocks - set the hose end in it & let it deep water the roots of the plants nearby.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Wow, that is so smart.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I was planning to kinda not to go as I have nothing to really to bring to share and I had no car and no time to get myself together on this, I was sad LOL . Now I have a new car and ready to go, but I feel bad , cause I won't have much to bring. I am still kinda a new starter I have so much space I just keep moving things around. But I will bring what I have, If thats Okay.
Really want to meet everyone, that is my most want.
All the ones I do know and all the ones I don't, I don't want nothing but that.
Tilly

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Tilly, you HAVE to come. You are the reason I got interested in DG. You started a thread asking where everyone was, and you welcomed me.

We don't care if you don't have much to share. We don't want people to not come because they have nothing to bring. Sharing your self and all of your gardening experience is what this is all about. Not getting someone's plants. That is just a bonus. The plants someone gave to me are special because they were given out of friendship, and I value them more than the plants I purchase. I don't have a lot to share because I am still in the building stage. But everyone is more than welcome to choose what they want and take cuttings. I have started some cuttings, and plan to do more, but the time is getting away from me. And I have a ton of seeds to share.

I wanted to host the RU at our home, so there wouldn't be a lot of costs for everyone. I wanted everyone to have the opportunity to share in the fellowship, NO ONE should feel they shouldn't come just because they don't have a lot to bring. This is going to be fun for everyone, and we want to have a good turnout. The more, the merrier!!!!

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Amen & Amen, Lynn!

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm in the same boat as Tilly- I'll try to come up with some stuff to share, but I just started my garden this spring, so I have no plants ready for dividing or anything. I do have some cosmo and daisy seeds, and I'll be collecting from my yellow snapdragons that got freakishly huge and are still blooming like crazy. I'll see what else I have ready to collect from by then, too.

I can make a set of shell windchimes for the gift exchange and one for the door prize drawing, if that's appropriate.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I didnt mean to upset you like that, I will be there still have a couple weeks yet and I did make my vac for that week so I could go.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Freakish yellow snapdragon seeds & shell wind chimes would make ME very happy.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

*grins at Summer* I'll collect extra freakish yellow snapdragon seeds especially for you. ;)

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

For those who are new to gardening or are starting new areas, please post your wants.
I don't start dividing until October, but would be willing to dig earlier if i knew what you wanted. (providing I have the plant!)

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Same here. I think I have curly willow at the new house, for instance.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

for those who have room & want a nice vertical end of summer bloomer, I will have Helianthus 'Lemon Queen' (5-6'), also Thalictrum flavum ssp. glaucum (5-6' tall).

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Katye, you still have mine (list) I have yours

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Katye, I would love to have a couple of those tall, late Summer bloomers (one of each). Thanks! I better start digging and getting spots ready for plants from the round up.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

You got it!
Man it was hot today, but the tomatoes & peppers & beans loved it. I might not feel so affectionate about 99° this week, though.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Katye, I would love to have one of each of your tall late summer bloomers, as well. I have LOTS of room, as I am still in the building stage.
Pony, I would love some of your snapdragon seeds. Your windchimes would make a perfect gift exchange or door prize.
Tills, I didn't mean to sound upset. I just wanted you to know how much I want you to come to Roundup!!!

Summer and Pony, I have a ton of stuff to share with you. But you have to take a black plastic pot with you!!! And you have to bring me a rock. I love rocks, and I want to build a rock garden with rocks collected from everyone. I don't care what size they are, or how many. I may even have some paint that you can paint your name on it, or even decorate it, for you talented artsy people.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Yay rocks! Rocks rock! I'll happily bring you one. (or more) I've never painted a rock before, but I've been wanting to try it, so I'll see what I can do about decorating one. :)

The snapdragon seems to be winding down, I'm going to let it go to seed now so I'll have lots of them to share. and I looooove making my windchimes, so I'll bring two sets. :)

I'm really looking forward to this, it'll be great to meet folks. I'm a little shy around new people, but I'll try to be brave and talk to everybody. hehe.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Thanks Pony. I have never painted a rock before either!!!!

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

It's tough to be shy around me, pony. I kick people in the shins, ask them about their sex life, make them eat weird stuff ...

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Well, we know who is going to get the party started!!!

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

LOL Summer- then I'll probably be good hanging with you- I respond best to exactly that kind of personality. Makes me come right out of my shell. :)

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Oh, and I'll hit on yer husbands too ...

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

*snerk*

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

yeah, i always forget to mention that part & then people are shocked, i don't get it ...

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

This is going to be fun, cause my DH is staying home. Ha Ha

Rocks ??? any special kind.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Nope, just a rock. I have some that are more interesting than others, and some just plain old rocks that I find in the yard or by the road.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I brought one in and scrubbed it up last night to bring ya- it looks like a small stone canteloupe. I've read that canteloupe is also called rockmelon, so I guess this one is just the extreme version. hehehe. I'll see what other interesting ones I can find. :)

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thats to cool, Good pick Pony. Got to look for that special rock from my yard LOL

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Hmmmmm....I see a really cool theme here. How do you guys feel about "admitance" to Roundup being a rock for our hostess? No size, style, or decor requirement, just a rock for a PNW garden? A part of each of our worlds for hers?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

That is a cool idea. :)

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

I have huge agates from Montana ...

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

ooOOoo. Now I want to host a roundup. ;D

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

My new name is ... the1agate

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Can we call ya Aggie for short? Hm, but then people might think you're from Texas.

You want rocks? I have rocks. I also, somewhere, have a very cool book on painting rocks to look like little cottages. I was going to try it once- a long time ago- before I had such a big garden and it became a black hole of time.

Message to all gardeners just starting out: We don't CARE if you don't have anything because we have more than enough for everyone! Some day you, too, will have so many plants that you won't have places for them all and you'll be looking around for people with new gardens who need plants. Believe me when I say 'no trade necessary'!

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Amen to that!

Speaking of rocks, I saw a cool thing at the NW Garden show a few years ago. It was huge, egg shaped rocks painted to look like eggs and they were displayed in some kind of huge straw nest. Could imagine them to be dinasour eggs! Am saving that idea in my head to try out when I get a little spare time (lots of luck there!)

Have to start looking for my admission ticket!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Oooh, I can do rocks! I love rocks and have p-p-l-l-l-l-e-n-t-y to share. Cool idea!
I don't know about the decorating part, though. I like my rocks "au naturale". Guess I'll just pick a pretty one or two!
Love the dino nest idea, too. Or maybe they're dragon eggs-then you'll just need one of those huge metal sculpture dragons to place somewhere

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I have a very Special rock, now that you but it that way. LOL
It can from Sedona Ari. It may have a crystal inside, I have no desired to bust it open, its my door stop for the bedroom LOL. It would look so out of place here, but in a special rock garden it would fit. I just want my name on it ^_^

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

My DD's greatest obsession is collecting rocks. We packed and moved at least 5 cubic feet of rocks when we moved last time. Though I told her that most of those had to go in the yard.

North Lakewood, WA(Zone 8b)

I have lots of rocks from many places. If someone goes on a trip and says they will bring me back a souvenir, I ask for a rock instead.
Back in the day, I used to take my kids camping up the Mt Loop highway along the river for a week or so every summer. One summer I just found so many spectacular river rocks that were quite large. I kept loading them in the back of the van to bring home ( I knew I was being greedy but I couldn't help myself). During the night it rained cats and dogs and the kids were nearly floating out of their tents so we decided to come home early. Out in the middle of nowhere, boom a tire blows out. (No cell phones or probably service area either back then). So here we are on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere with a flat. My dear sweet son took over (thank goodness), when he had to unload 500 pds of rock and camping gear to get to the jack, he said some choice words (he wasn't and still isn't one to really swear) as he was hucking my beautiful rocks into the underbrush along side the road. I knew better than to try saving them at that point. Now years later we laugh about it but I couldn't believe the words that came out of his mouth! He still gives me guff about hauling home rocks, but in his travels he too has brought some nice rocks home to mama.
