Hello all...Thanks for taking the time to read this. I am trying to figure out a yucca filamentosa that is in my mothers garden. She says the middle stalk died and now there are 4 new shoots coming out of the plant. She would like to know if I can break it up for her so she can have more around the yard...how easy is this to do? The stems look very thick and I dont want to damage the plant. Thanks
Help with Yucca
I have one... It had a rough year. Anyway. I took several shoots off and transplanted in other areas of the yard. None of the shoots made it, but it didn't do anything to the base.. I am new to gardening but I think mine didn't make it because of the monsoon weather we have been having. It rained for a solid week after replanting. Then clear a couple of days and it is back to raining. I read they do not do well with soo much rain. I think I should have waited before seperating and replanting. That being said the base is looking great and has new shoots already.
Good luck.. Hope you get more advise!
