Joeswife, it seems as if all your plants are loving the rain, they are looking good.

phughes, I did get the red cestrum in Houston, and I am still looking for a Philo. Painted Lady

Rj, I will read your blog for my bedtime story.

I caught this guy the other morning.. I have got to move the bird feeder... he/she is getting really fat.. last year the hawk hung out to catch these as they came out to feed...this one is soooo cute! It hangs out behind the brugmansia pot...
the bird feeder is right above it.. my poor old Beagle goes nutz trying to find it ... DH wants me to set a trap...

First blooms on my thryallis; I hope this plant will bloom all summer. Does anyone know? I think it has a long bloom season; at least, that is why I bought it. LOL

Patty..the fern is doing great!

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

I thought it was until I saw yours again. Yours is so pretty; I want it!!!!!!

Rj, I agree with everything that you had to say in your Blog. I have been using the seaweed for quite some time now, with good results. I do not follow a strict spraying schedule, it is whenever I think about it.

Joeswife, I agree with your DH, get a trap. This is the first year ever that I had them in my GH. They ate all my bare-rooted bananas.

phughes, your fern is looking real good, but I don't think you will ever catch up to Rj's. He has a good head start on you.
My thryallis is just now getting new leaves after the long hard winter. I am glad that it is still alive, love those blooms

Mine will if I take my machete to RJ's!!!!!

Red Oak, TX

phughes, Rj will have to confiscate your machete, and hire a security guard for his Big Tree Fern on your next visit. LOL

phughes, lovely fern you have there! Which one is it? I would really like to send you some of our rain or any other state that could use it right now. We are in a flood watch again and from the look's of thing's...we will exceed the bank's before long!

Placenciarita, The Anthurium that you asked about of mine is the Clarinervium. The Anthurium of your's...I am not sure but I think it may be a Radican's. I have seen it before but did not do much research on it.

The Polly and Amazonica alocasia's can definately be a challenge to grow and keep looking healthy! I have found them to be a learning experience for me. Everyone like's a challenge from time to time and some that I have are a challenge;-)

I started with THE FERN 3 years ago. After looking like I had poison ivy all summer discovered it was THE FERN. It is history here.

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

Rachel it is an australian tree fern. RJ's got one and I admired it for over a year I think before I got one for myself. RJ's is beautiful. (Post your tree fern picture that you sent me RJ)

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

Forgot I wanted to post my newest day lily's first bloom

Check out this name: day lily 'Tootsie Rose' my first pink one; bought on last year's trip to Houston plant shopping. I think it will get better shaped as it matures.

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Ladies and gentlemen, it is a glorious day in Delray-les-Plages.

I planted this Blue Eye Susan passion flower about 3 weeks ago. It has climbed a good 4 feet since it arrived. It bloomed a few minutes ago. When I checked it out about an hour ago, the bud was agout the size of my thumb (maybe a bit shorter). Then suddenly, VOILÀ! it's open. We are very excited.

Take care, all.
Sylvain.

You & me both Rachel. It is my favorite of all RJ's plants. His is just beautiful right now. I can't wait until mine makes a trunk like his has.

I envy you both for being able to grow the tree type's. I love big beautiful fern's.

RachelLF, thanks for showing me your A Clarinerium, I love them. I have one but transplanted it into a pot, it was not doing well planted in the ground. Right now it is in plant ICU.

RJH, you saw Star Trek! I'll be sure to check out that link you posted. Imagine a trekkie on Dave's Garden. Well actually, 2 trekkies because I love Star Trek in all its incarnations and movies. My favorite series was Deep Space 9; go figure. I found the characters had more "writing" built into them.

I'm sorry to have given this thread an off-topic flavor.

Sylvain.
