No blooms on mine yet; will be sharpening the machete before too long.
Tropical Garden #38
nooooooooooo!
Been a long time since I kept up with this forum. Worked my way from March to the current thread. Many of my plants are just starting to recover from the big freeze we had here. Most plumies are dead but some are bringing new shoots up at their base. The pudica seem to be the best survivors as almost all of them show some sign of life. The young trees I had planted last fall are also shooting up from the root systems but a few are simply dead as a doornail. The arecas which look totally dead may not be. I'll leave them be for now, same with the Adonidia merrillii. My ' dead' croton cuttings seem to be alive after all. They are remarkably tough. Anyway, I'm not giving up because of one horrible winter.
My DW is in a rehab center after surgery and there they have lots of nice plantings given in memorial of somebody or another. Of course, they have no name tags on them. As I'm looking to plant more tropical flowering trees, maybe somebody here can ID some of the pics.
Any ideas as to this one?
Then you better tell me your secret and don't just say hibiscus fertilizer. I know your doing something and not telling. LOL
Hetty,
the Chateau at Moorings Park on Goodlett near Pine Ridge. I didn't just see one Lexus 460L there. They park in pairs. I think that is where rich folks set up their waiting room for heaven. :-) It's an upscale retirement community.
On the plant side, things are still a mess. Instead of blooming all my new stuff is just trying to survive. You won't see any plumeria blooms here for quite a while. The caladiums are nice though.
Oh, Fred. I'm so sorry to hear about Marlies. Say hi for me when you see her. I hope she gets better soon. It's so sad that your garden is still recovering from that cold weather. Things will perk up. In the mean time, you have so much going on in your garden, I'm certain there will always at least be a little something to rejoice about.
Take care.
Sylvain.
Rita your red cestrum looks good; is that the one you bought in Houston???
JW--love that red bloom and your dame's rocket is so pretty. I have never heard of that. Gonna have to go look it up in plant files.
Joeswife, beautiful hibiscus there. Some you just can't beat as houseplant's due to they bloom even inside during the Winter month's as well. Do you have any of the Pinellia plant's growing there? I am just now venturing into this family because they have "what I think" has, that tropical look but not tropical's.
I like the fur baby too !
Everyone have great day ^_^
Since you're in the mood to share, send some of that rain my way too. Everywhere around us is getting rain except for South Texas. My DG friend in Houston has gotten so much that the record for rain in April was broken. We on the other hand have grass fires popping up around us cause someone throws out a cigarette butt and it's so dry, it catches fire. The winds have been horrendous also so everything dries out quickly.
rain, rain go away and come down my way . . . . .please!
Patty

You're being mean, mean, mean, RJ. You better be nice to me or else I will send you sticks instead of cuttings of my new tropical hibiscus. I'm in the process of ordering about four more from the Hibiscus Place if I could only make up my mind what I want. You know they will be all pinks and purples. LOL
I'll put the sticks in the vacated Rangoon creeper hole
You are being a devil this evening!!!!! I'm going to get out my voodoo doll and put some pins with your name on them in it.
LOL...I can't help it..you keep setting me up!
Well I have to admit I've been laughing right along with you every time I read your next comment.
