Tropical Garden #38

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

We came from here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/978897/

First bloom on cherries jubilee allamanda; saw it this morning while I was out with my dog and thought what a pretty picture it would make amongst the morning glory bush blooms. Ran it and got my camera and snapped it.

Alocasia Wenti (is that right Rita?) & Coffee Cups Colocasia

Love the dark green of these two plants.

My Cherries Jubilee Alamanda just opened its first bloom of the year too, how interesting, since we are in such diverse zones/
Here is my picture of the day: Plumeria 'Mary Helen Eggenberger'; they don't come much nicer than this.

No they don't; that is so pretty. What does it smell like???

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

wow Patty, nice...especially like the no i.d. one..that is very healthy looking.
The coffee cup has already come out of the recover area, it didn't take long at all.

This was the garden art for the Chronicle Garden blogger gathering at the house Saturday. The statue is a Tepanom (Thai angel), the back drop is one of those round 70's chairs that you put in a base, and kind of a bean bag cushion.
2 opposing adjustable rope lights that I tie wraped to the circular frame (you can make them bink slow to fast - ) covered by a sheer brownish bronze material that formerly were window curtain accessory...

It was nice meeting the other 7 bloggers, but it was a blur as hosting is sometimes...about half of them are Master Gardeners, and the group represented a varied age group, ethnic and garden style.

Joeswife, I am glad that you like the Brug. I hope that your's will start blooming real soon.
It has been raining here for the last two days. It is supposed to get down to 55 degrees tonight, but it's always a little colder where I live.

Rj, I bought this vine on my first trip to Houston, and the first time meeting you. It is funny how a plant will bring back good memories.

Rjudd,

How did you ever find a Tepanom?!

I haven't found much out of Thailand. (Wish I could.)

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

Rj used to own an import store; I bet that's where he got that.

Ohhhh. Lucky fellow.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes..that's it! Went to Chiang Mai Thailand - and shipped a 40 foot container back...
When I was buying for the store.....I'd say..one for the store..one for me...!
