"On The Waterfront" - Part 2
Great action shots Linth!!
Those are great action shots Linth!
Oh I just love the American Avocet and Yellowlegs!
"my what a long beak you have"
"Why thank you, what lovely long legs YOU have"
Super shots in this thread!
I have enjoyed this thread so much Charlie! You continue to have awesome photos!
I went down to Chincoteague this past weekend, and the weather was outstanding! I took a ton of photos... with my concentration being on sunrises both mornings. I'm getting better, but I definitely think I need a better, faster lens!
The snow geese were really cool though! That was a first for me!
Beautiful shots Linth!!
Thanks, pelle. Thanks, Karen.
Karen, yes, this past weekend was great. Glad you got to see the Snow Geese. Were there any shorebirds around ? I might get down there sometime this winter, maybe February. I'll be lurking around the eastern shore here in Maryland when I'm not photographing the Bald Eagles. I spent Saturday and Sunday at the Conowingo Dam because the weather was so great. More eagles are arriving each day. On Sunday, someone said that they counted over 200, using their binoculars. In 12 hours, I took so many pics it was ridiculous. It would be embarrassing to tell you how many. I started shooting at 700mm and eventually backed down to 500mm because I was missing too many "fishing" shots. Having a big lens is nice but when it's on a tripod you also miss everything that flies right over your head. There's a lot of photographers there that just handhold their camera/lens. I'll eventually post some of them on my Bald Eagle thread.
I'll start a new "On the Waterfront" thread when activity warrants it. I enjoy taking photos of gulls, also. They are a great subject to practice on since you usually find them everywhere. While in the Ocean City, MD inlet, I took a few photos of Laughing Gulls against the blue sky. Here's a few to sort of close out this thread .......
There were still some shore birds. I posted a few photos on the end of Daily Photos Vol. 256, and the current Vol. 257. I can't wait to get up to Conowingo Dam! Hubby and I will watch the weather for a couple weeks from now!

Sounds like it's time for a second camera! ;-)
Mrs. Ed, I really don't need any more cameras. If I can't get the photos I want with the equipment (Nikon D300 with Nikkor 500mm lens) I already have, then it's a losing proposition. I usually also carry my Nikon D200 with a Sigma 50-500mm lens when I'm birding from my car. Then, I grab whichever camera/lens fits the situation. Some individuals do carry two cameras with them. But I guess I can't multi-task as well as some. Most of the overhead shots aren't any good anyway. All you get is a dark bottom.
LOL. Didn't know you had so much equipment. I carry my point and shoot sometimes just so I can take a quick pix of something that my 70-300 is too big for. And also to take any video. But if I had two DSLRs, I would have a problem carrying them both, so I get what you mean.
Mrs_Ed, I also have a Nikon D70 DSLR that currently has a 105mm micro lens on it. My wife was kind of enough to give me her double door wall cabinet with several shelves to store my cameras w/ lens attached. One on each shelf. It functions like a gun cabinet. Of course, she was tired of seeing the camera equipment lying around.
We wives are so nice!
Your photos are just gorgeous!! Whatever lens you use, your photos seem so clear and sharp. Beautiful work!!
Great shots, Linth. The one in the third pic seems to be smirking, rather than laughing.
